These are examples of the variety of homes you see in small towns and villages here.

We will be traveling on an overnight bus (Saturday-Sunday) to Isla Holbox. We may or may not have internet access there...we'll be there for about 10 days....then back to Cancun and home on the 23rd.

These were made from sticks, palm leaves and adobe. Many people still have the old house in front and a more modern one behind it.

Many homes have chickens, pigs, cows, and even horses in small yards. Many kitchens are outside, since it is too hot to cook inside.

People build them slowly as they have a bit of money for cement blocks or other components. It's hard to say if this was abandoned or just waiting....vegetation takes over very quickly here! The sign to the left means "topes" or speed bump.

It's fun see our house plants growing lush outside!
