Well, Justin and I left Claremont at about 9pm last night... Not the best way to start a trip, but after a marathon 24 hour driving session we finally arrived in Guaymas about two hrs ago. We covered over 800 miles, which put us back on track. We drove through Arizona to the Nogales crossing (which we were told was the easiest place to cross because it immediately turns into the Mex15 highway south of the border.) Our first international crossing went well and passed fairly quickly, which will hopefully start a trend. The Mex15D highway was the smoothest road either of us had ever driven on. For a meager $5.40USD in toll fees we traveled on a road so freshly paved that it hadn't even been painted yet. Driving in Mexico is completely different than driving in the states. It is a much more fluid experience. If you see an opening you take it. If you can make it through the red light, you do it. Everyone does it. Although Justin and I made a critical mistake when we took out our Mexican insurance policy. We opted for the bare minimum coverage which cost us $89USD for three months of coverage. we realized later that for about $30USD more we could have added some important features and had a little more piece of mind. Oh well, we aren't going to get in an accident anyways (famous last words.) Tomorrow were going to get up early and go for a run by the beach, then, it's on to Mazatlan.
