Sam reckons the day we both arrived in Cancun isn't our first day. I'll concede because then it means we had the coolest first day ever (day 0 = not flying through a hurricane in Bermuda- good choice Mr Captain, taking actually forever to get to the hostel, meeting Kylie from NZ and going for tacos - yummy, and Sam arriving when I definitely wasn't asleep because I was staying awake until she arrived...)

This little island just off the coast of Cancun is basically heaven. Definitely worth getting stuck inside the bus and having to climb out the boot and maybe, possibly getting a teeny tiny bit sunburnt. The sand is beautiful and white, the sea is turquoise; the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky!

Having met Linda on the boat over (it's impossible to put suncream on your own back), Kylie, Sam, Linda and I decided our first stop on the island should definitely be cocktails, with further planning to be decided.

Accidentally putting ourselves on a hotel only beach (whoops. Lovely spot though) cocktails were on order when the next activity presented itself: snorkelling with Aerial. On leaving the boat at Isla Mujeres, you can't move for people who want to take you on snorkelling tours, but this guy won us over with persistence and a good price. The snorkelling didn't disappoint and it was a great afternoon 😊

We were all totally shattered after a beautiful couple of hours snorkelling and dinner, and I barely kept my eyes open on the boat back!!

Next stop: Valladolid, which is not pronounced in anyway that you might think.

Mosquito bite count: 3

Days remaining: 69?
