The wind didn't die down yet. Our door moved all night long thanks to the wind. Oh well, we still slept pretty well. Took our time this morning.
We took our exploration out of Downtown Cancun and over to the Hotel Zone. We jumped in a cab to shuttle us down to the museum. We are getting much better at negotiating price with them. Across the street was a restaurant, so we went over for lunch. However, because it is Sunday they had a breakfast buffet going until 2pm. So that was our only option. Turned out to be a good idea, we had a lot of fun trying out all the food including multiple deserts and juices. Had a nice view too.
We walked back across the street to the Museo Mayan de Cancun. A small museum with a few fun art pieces - including a water dragon. The outside of the museum is a path through a small Mayan ruins site and covered by jungle trees - great for keeping cool in afternoon heat. Then we climbed a ramp up to the second floor. There was housed a number of different Mayan artifacts and history details of
their past. It was small but a good compliment to the ruins both at the museum and Chichen Itza we went to earlier this week.
Done there we walked further... Much further than I expected... down the road to a second ruin location. On the way we saw a beach with huge waves thanks to the wind. Good thing we chose not to snorkel today like we talked about the night before. There was a neat Cancun sign in front of the beach with a line of people down the block waiting to take a picture in front of it. Even I'm not that crazy. Finally after the beach we made it to El Rey the next ruin site. This one was a marsh zone thanks to the rain the other day but bigger and some neat buildings. People were not listening so well to instructions and on a bunch of the ruins, unfortunately. Do they not realize how that impacts the preservation of them? Alex had the job of maneuvering us out without getting wet. I got wet... The one time I don't follow his path exactly. We've going to hear the end f that one.
We
had one more adventure - getting out of the hotel zone. This time we tried the bus. A couple stops down a man with half of a guitar got on to serene us for tips. Eventually we made it back downtown after a lot of rough starts and stops. We did a few chores like printing of tomorrow's ticket (since I managed to get the location of our pick up moved closer) and a quick stop at the supermarket. Then headed home.
Later that night we went to a Chinese place, it didn't quite compare to Panda but was good enough. Went to the apartment to watch Hercules. Then grabbed the cake from the supermarket and was sorely disappointed because instead of being Oreo as expected it was cappuccino! Yuck! So I hopped in the shower to clean up for the next day leaving the cake for Alex to try ( he was shocked there was any left). I cleaned up nicely but stupidly 'shaved' my thumb while cleaning off my razor in the shower. I ended up with 3 funny lines and strips of skin hanging off - didn't draw blood though! Bed time.
