We moved into our apartment at 1118 Juan Manuel on Friday the 29th. It's in Colonia Americana which is a great location within walking distance to Mercado Centenario, grocery stores, lavanderia, an organic bakery that sells home made veggie burgers and excellent Neveria's. and we're close to the bus stop. this building was constructed in 1801 to house an orphanage, the last orphan left in 1980 and it was converted into an art and history museum.

this was our favorite mercado to shop at, it was huge and had everything from food to shoes to black market video games to clothes and jewelry and craft and candy and the list goes on...

we loved walking to our local mercado and buying fresh vegetables, eggs and cheese from our favorite stalls.

a gekko was running around crazy in our bedroom so tages finally captured it and set him free outside.

In 1810 Hidalgo led a group of indigenous and mestizo peasants in a revolt against the dominant peninsulares under the banner of the Virgin of Guadalupe. After clashes with the criollos and Mexican townspeople the group disbanded. Hidalgo was captured on March 21 1811, and executed on 30 July. This statue is really cool because it depicts Hidalgo breaking the chains of servitude and the slave trade.
