no riding today

Happy fourth of july to all you in estados unidos. Im in Petatlan, which is just south of zihuetanejo (shawshank redemption) and its been pouring rain outside for the last few hours... glad im not riding today. Im staying at the Hotel California, which costs 170 pesos for a room with a ceiling fan. (thats about 17 dollars) I coulda got the air conditioned room but it would have been $35...i can make due with a fan.
On the way here yesterday from Morelia, I had to buy gas from some guy at the side of the road with a bunch of five gallon containers...i hate doing that, but other people were buying it from him also so it couldnt be too bad, could it? I stopped for coffee at some store front cafe this morning and discussed Sundays election results with the owner, as well as places he had been in estados unidos, and where i was headed. Ill go back this evening for dinner, Pollo (his nickname) and his family were very friendly and gave me a good opportunity to practice my spanish. I hung out there for two hours drinking coffee and talking about whatever. Im having some trouble uploading photos so there will be none until i work it out. also, this computer keyboard has unusual punctuation placement, so ive decided not to use it. (didja notice).
