Bonjour!!!

Our week in Montreal has been great.... Just out of camp where days and nights off are limited and it's difficult to coordinate to have these days with your friends, we're now altogether in this beautiful city. Eight of us left New Hampshire on Sunday (28/8), four of the girls, Jenny, Katie B., Katie D. and me in Jenny's car, and the 4 boys; Andy, Ali, Irek (only came up for the first night!) and Mark by bus. Lee and Jess M. came in another car on Tuesday as did Rowan, Remy and Doughty in Doughty's car. Then Jess B. joined us on Thursday and there is Emma who studies in Montreal so in total we had 15 staff members there at some point during the week!!! It was hectic and noisy, which was much appreciated by others in the hostel I'm sure...😊

We spent a lot of time walking around the city, all down St. Catherine's Street, which is a nice but quite typical "high street" shopping area, we had a picnic in the Parc Mont Royale, strolled around the Plateau (the area our hostel "Vacances", an old boarding school, was in). We also went to the Biodome (previously an Olymbic biking hall I believe ?) and now has four habitats with lots of wildlife and plants to save them from extiction and to reintroduce them back into nature. I really hope I got that right, correct me if I'm wrong. Saw lots of things I recognised from Costa Rica, not quite as lush as the real thing but still pretty amazing! Also went to the botanical gardens and walked there for a couple of hours, it was a beautiful day. I loved the Japanese gardens, brought back a few Tokyo memories... Quickly checked out the insectarium but had to rush as some of the others were waiting outside. One thing we definitely realised this week was that it's hard to organise such a big group!

Our nights were spent in checking out the Montreal nightlife (and yes we went to karaoke too, we gave an amazing performance of "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen, a Huckins and 'Foil' classic, acting out the words as well...I guess you had to be there. I could tell the karaoke pro's were v.impressed) Many funky clubs and bars on St. Laurent and St. Denis had a nice atmosphere to

it too.

After one week we were so tired from the sightseeing and the partying it was already time to head back. On our way to Boston we made a quick stop at the Ben & Jerry's factory in Vermont, for our quick icecream fix 😊

The next two nights were spent in Wayland at Lee's house, we got some early nights to catch up on our rest, so that we'd be ready for our week of touring around LA!
