To the Library
Apartment internet OFF- thank goodness not Mr.Rob Ford for the Public Library May 2
ndat 11:00 has slowly come to an end. After a second furtive search for my mobile I took the bus north to the library at Scraborough Town Centre. Looking for the location I spoke with a nice man at the security desk of the Scarborough City Hall. The library was inside the STC. Asking at at the Customer Service desk the lady said no library was in the Mall. But there it was on the list albeit without a phone number. The Lady was too good. The listing was actually a book mobile which only arrived every second Thursday. She suggested the next best idea … Starbucks or Davids Tea for WiFi access … or the Youth Drop-in Centre. I tried the drop in centre but could not connect.
By now I was in need of coffee. Moxie's was my next stop. Lunch! and WiFi! Halleluya! Here four lovely people made me feel very welcome, let me scout out three tables looking for a plug, connected me to the internet, served me a great soup and sandwich combo and allowed me to work on my netbook, tying up loose ends.
Next stop was the Sony Store for
Flower to Buy
While Sudburians are still anticipating snow the annuals and hanging pots are on display and sale in Toronto a charger plug and the guy there told me that the camera I bought in Mexico in 2006 has a better lense than the camera I bought a year ago. Both are Cybershots ... numbers 4 and 5. Number 1 was stolen in Madrid. Number 2 was drowned in Baja California. Both 4 and 5 will come on this next trip. One for videos. One for still shots.
Dollarama and Shoppers Drugmart were visited for last minute essentials. Now time was running short. Arrival at the Bell Lightbox was in time for the rush line. Luckily tickets were availble for the three o'clock showing of “Ice”. As a senior I entered gratis.
May 3rd my friend and I went to the Factory Theatre to see Oil and Water, a play based on a true disaster off the shore of Newfoundland in 1942. If interested look up the info. It was amoving rendition of societies goodness and badness.
May 4 ....dishes washed, floor vaccumed, garbage down the shute, refrigerator cleared and I'm at the airport ready to board the plane. 21 degrees here and raining in Holland. Because I am wearing 'runners' ... actually hiking shoes .... I
Dandilion Splendour
Now that the dandilions are out the bears will be out in my backyard. They eat the flowers ... basically nothing else to munch on. did not have to remove my shoes. Who Knew? ...from now on hiking shoes only when going thru seccurity. I had forgotten togat the little paper slippers at the dentists. Glad that I did not have to clean the airport fl;oor with my psychedelic socks.
The smallest coffee in a styrofoam cup cost $2.30 and the plastic bag for my pack cost me $5. Wifi is free at the airport .... a definite sign of progress. Stillo subway, train or light rail to the airport but Go Bus is available in a convoluted way.
Today in Canada, Mr. Flarety, the Minister of finance pushed the button to initiate the last minting of the Canadian penny. I wonder how much the jet trip to Winnipeg cost the taxpayer. Hope the $4606.31 I payed in income tax this year on retreived RRSP's helped!!! I will be visiting visiting seven countries and will check in each one if pennies are still in use. OK let the two months of dragging my backpack around .... begin!
