A good starting point for a traveller to toronto. There is a historical Blue "Pier 6" at this intersection which is also at the lake, recessed like an inlet much of this is reclaimed land before the 20s the lake came up to Lakeshore blvd. There is a 2nd Cup coffee shop inside and lots of flyers about events and places in the city. To the west is QueensQuay Terminal which has many shops and restaurants also businesses and expensive residences at the top. To the east are nice condos (Harbour Square) there is a boardwalk in front, water taxis and a garden/sculpture/miniature waterfall on the south east side. You can see the planes landing at the Toronto Island airport and the Toronto Islands themselves.

You used to be able to go upstairs in the Pier 6 which was quite relaxing but it is closed except for staff now. Still a nice place to have a coffee, juice or tea.
