our new RV complete with ready made family Well, today we pick up our 25ft RV from Cruise Canada and commence another leg of our Canada journey.
Vancouver has been great and we enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Ramada Exhibition Park. For around $100 a night it has been great. The place is in a central location And the staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. No complaints from us but we long for the freedom of travelling in the RV..it has become the central focus of this holiday.
Had plans of going down to Stanley Park in the morning but we are so tired...lots of walking over past couple of days so we took the bus downtown and had coffee/donuts at Tim Hortons in Burrard Street and worked out our travel plan out to the RV depot. Caught the Canada Line Sky Train out to Richmond (near the YVR airport) $4 fare each and then a taxi to Delta which seemed miles away $40 taxi ride to pick up RV.
The RV was ready at 1pm so we were on the road by 1.30pm. Drove back to the hotel and collected our luggage and off we went. Found a Safeway and did a

the sea to sky hwy (hwy 99) grocery shop. One thing we noticed since arriving in Canada is the high prices of food and petrol compared to the USA. Same food items can be 2 to 3 times dearer up here. Petrol is around $1.40 per litre in Canada. In the USA you will pay between $3.20 - $4.00 per gallon. Quite a difference in pricing.
Not far out of Vancouver the scenery changes dramatically. Miles upon miles of alpine forest line the Sea to Sky highway and suddenly the air feels clean and everything is peaceful. Simply an "ooh ahh" type of experience. Howe Sound is in line with the Sea to Sky Highway - a truly breathtaking drive.
First stop was at Murrin Provincial Park where we had a walk to Browning Lake. Stunning lake right next to the highway. A number of locals were swimming here in the crystal clear waters of the lake. It was another warm day here especially for this time of the year.
Along the highway we stopped to check out a huge granite rock named "Stawamus Chief". This impressive rock stands sentinel over the Squamish Valley and was created by molten rock. The smooth hard granite

Browning Lake is ideal for rock climbers and they come from all over the world to climb the well devolved routes.
A short walk up the hill took us to Shannon Falls where water looks like it is tumbling from the sky. The source of all the water is from a small valley hanging above the side of Howe Sound.
While filling up with fuel, Geoff was able to capture the granite rock face with a few night shots. At $1.40 per litre we put $100 into the tank - travelled 107km since this afternoon. Our mission was to make it to Whistler by dark but after stopping a few times to take in the scenery it was well and truly dark when we arrived in downtown Whistler. The highway to Whistler is extremely dark so we haven't got a clue what the place looks like. That will have to wait until tomorrow.
We are staying in the Riverside RV park in a powered site. $57.95 per night. The site also includes wifi and use of bathrooms.
Looking forward to meeting Whistler in the daylight first thing in the morning.
