Quite Literally in fact as we took a 17 hour train journey from Jasper to Vancouver last Saturday, arriving on Sunday. Contrary to other entries it wasnt that bad - we slept fitfully, and the girls won prizes at Bingo! Also before leaving in a desperate attempt to gain any sighting of wildlife we actually spotted Elk on the train tracks!
On the train there is a viewing car which gives a good view of the (in our case) snow covered mountains and forests albeit in the dwindling light - it passed the time and we are getting really blase about the snow and scenery now!

When we arrived in Vancouver we were met by long lost friends who had made the effort to arrive at the station by 7.30am - pretty impressive! After a stonking breakfast of Pancakes, bacon and Maple syrup, eggs, sausage etc we were ready to face the Santa Claus parade. This is funny really because in our travel across the continent we narrowly avoided the Santa Claus parade the previous week in Toronto only to come face to face with the pretender (apparently it IS the real one here but I dont believe it!) in Vancouver

Some local wildlife at last - and when we were just about to leave!
this week!.
Anyway, we braved the crowds and cold (actually it was like a Summers Day in comparison to the previous few days!) and had a good time for a short period before catching the sea bus back to North Vancouver and up to Squamish.

On Monday it snowed and on Tuesday we went to see the famous Bald Headed Eagles that come to Squamish this time of year to feed on the spawning salmon. The photos weren't of 'David Bailey' quality but you really had to be there. Also, looking for lunch that day were some seals who confused us to begin with as they look just like dogs swimming in the river!

The weather has been sunny today and we are hoping it will last for the next couple of days as we brave the ski slopes and try a 'rookie snowboarding' course. See ya
