We left Portland this Morning and we are already in Canada. We had light traffic, especially considering it is Monday of the Memorail Day weekend. We stopped for lunch at "burgerville".It is this great burger joint the have in the Pacific Northwest. We had burgers and fresh fried asparagus. I took a photo of the skyline in Seattle as we went by. It was a beautiful drive. Clear skies with lots of wildflowers. We even saw 3 deer along the sides of the roads. To cross the border, we went on a highway that winds through the farmfields. We couldn't believe it when we pulled up to the border crossing, as you can see from the picture, there was no one there. They asked if we had any produce, we said "some bananas and 4 apples". They made us throw away the apples, "We don't grow bananas in Canada" is the explaination the customs agent gave us.
We drove a little further into Canada and stopped in Hope, BC. The first white man came here in 1808. The Frasier River is named for the settler. It is a small town that is known for the chainsaw scuptures throughout town. We have
a spot right on the Frasier river. Very quiet and what a view!

What beautiful scenery! My daugher lives in Camas WA, very close to Portland. It is so pretty up there. There are a lot of waterfalls. I would love to take a trip like yours someday!
