Vancouver 2010
Today is day 1 of the Olympics for us in Vancouver. I missed the torch relay which was disappointing (I got the times confused, it came by our place when I was at work yesterday). Scott however, working downtown in the middle of it all, got to see the torch for the second time in his life (first time it went right by his house in Norway, Lilli hammer 1994). Lucky guy gets to see it twice.

So because Scott is downtown, I am going to go for a wander, hopefully see some of the amazing things that are going on in downtown Vancouver today, and go for lunch with him. Yes yes I'll be bringing the camera.

Other then that we have 24 days left on the calendar until we leave. Went to Mountain Equipment co-op again last night to get a thin sleeping bag and some sleeping pads (they both fold up so teeny tiny, it's fantastic). That place is for sure my favorite store right now!! (website link)
We're getting down to the last nitty gritty details of planning for the trip. Tickets were bought months ago, Visa's were sorted (not much to do here, a few

days of research to find out we can get all the visas we will be needing either in Bangkok or at the specific country borders, how handy!), slowly unloading our belongings on others.
I think all that's left is purchasing traveler insurance, which we've already looked into (Travel-blogs recommends a great site for this, which we will be using), selling our car (this is nothing but a frustrating venture, for such a lovely car, I wish we could transformer it into a backpack and bring it with us, such an amazing machine!), and getting out of the apartment.

All in all the process for preparing for a trip like the one we're about to take on has been quite smooth (compared to how I thought it would go when we first started pondering the idea last year). I think when we decided together that this is what we wanted for ourselves for the next few years, we made it our only option, and it seems like because this was our only option, we have been able to make it work smoothly for ourselves.

When you make something your only option, there is nothing else to do but succeed
