Skating anyone?
Smack bang right in the middle of the West Edmonton Mall!
Edmonton, icicles and secret caves...
Well it's good to see a familiar face for the first time in 5 months. After darting all around the place in Europe, Anthony called in for a visit.
First couple days we did the usual thing and slept in until around midday, although i did manage to show him around my work and have a quick swim in the heated pool!
We made it up to 'Old Fort Point' for a view of the area, this being the first time i actually made it since off the path galabanting didn't work out last time...
The mountain sheep were pretty tame but i wasn't quite ready to jump on for a ride.
Snowboarding on Marmot the following day was alright, but we still need some fresh powder as hard packed snow with ice patches brings a great day for broken bones and dislocated limbs!
Only lucky enough having to roll down the mountain once, I still had all my body parts in tact.
(More on snowboarding including pictures in my next blog..or the one after...or the one after that...)
Arriving in Edmonton at midnight after 5 hours on a Me and Anthony
Old Fort Point hike...sneaking up to the mountain sheep...stealth with a red beanie! bus we booked into..yes you got it, yet another luxury hotel. Cable, mini bar and room service is the kind of backpacking i like! ;-) The Fairmont Macdonald may not be as flash as the Banff Springs (blog before this), but the beds are just as good...like sleeping in the clouds... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The West Edmonton Mall is crowned as one of the largest malls in North America and possibly the world, for all of you who enjoy shopping for hours on end this is the place to be!
This place has almost everything including a cinema, ice hockey arena, sea lion show, wave pool with slides, bungee jumping, aqua massages and a shooting range where i got to play with a 9mm pistol! You could spend literally days here and not even get to do and see everything!
Getting back to Jasper on the bus without sleep and people who jibber jabber the whole bloody way, i was looking forward to my bed.
The next morning was the icewalk which i have already done, just not during the day. The guide seemed a little less knowledgable but was willing to show us a nice little cave in
Slow down!
Ahhh, watch out for the bikers! which i plan to explore sometime..
Crawling into crevices a metre wide head first and upside down sounds like my kinda way of enjoying some advanced cardio and bonus concussion! Nice.
So unless i bang my head hard enough, i promise to post some pictures of my next excursion to the 'Secret cave of doom!' Mwahahaha.
Dan.
ps. Thanks for the comments everyone, keep em coming!
