Wildlife
A common elk. They are everywhere and don't seem too phased by humans Headed out of Anchorage for Whitehorse, Yukon on an 18 hour bus trip. Arrived in Whitehorse just after 1am and had a couple of days there. It was a lovely little "frontier" town.
Left Whitehorse for Jasper....again by bus , but this time it was a 36 hour trip and another early morning arrival in Jasper. What am I doing to myself? However, the scenery was worth the journey. Something I would not have seen had we flown. Hired a car in Jasper for a couple of days. Went sightseeing up to Meaigne Canyon, Medicine Lake and Maligne Lake. An absolutely awesome afternoon out. The mornings have been rainy but it seems to clear up as the arvo approaches and with the long daylight going out after lunch still allows 9-10 hours of sightseeing.
Travelled down the Icefield Parkway by car from Jasper to Banff. Again, an awesome drive even though the morning was overcast and the arvo rainy. Saw Lake Louise in the rain and the weather in Banff hasn't been much better since arriving. Banff is a pretty little town and can understand why Melanie likes it.
OK, enough with the commentary. I'll let the
Maligne Canyon
This is the Maligne River as it starts its journey down the canyon photos speak for themselves...........Have poste HEAPS of photos. Hope you don't get bored wading through them but I've had a super fast internet connection here in Banff.
