We have stayed in some gorgeous hotels that you only see in travel brochures. The first was the Banff Springs then the Chateau Lake Louise and the Jasper Park Lodge. All unique, old world hotels, with wonderful staff and everything laid on. As part of our tour our breakfasts and most of our dinners are all inclusive. The breakfast is usually a buffet and the dinners 3 courses. Seriously concerned about our middles, in fact we are considering skipping breakfast tomorrow with a stint in the gym instead. We shall see, sounds great the night before!... read more

We are very lucky to be staying in the Fairmont Banff Springs a castle of a hotel built in the middle of the Banff National Park. I will try to take some photos from around the hotel in a separate blog. . This morning we were nice and toasty warm, our hotel room even had a gas fireplace and a balcony. Both were put to good use as we turned on the fireplace while we opened the door to the balcony and handed out all the luggage over the railing, into the parking lot and directly on to the truck. I am sure this is not what it was all designed for, but we put it to good use!! Today we are setting our sights on Lake Louise.
