Ucagiz
Üçağız pronounced something like you-chaaz. Julie still struggles Kas Day 1 - 2 After the Adventures with Silverman (he's fantastic) we find ourselves in our chosen destination of Kas, Turkey a day early, though not regretted..... What a charming and beautiful place!
Being a day early we find ourselves in a pokey beachside hotel for the night and venture into the centre to check it all out, stumbling on a concert (band and choir) in the square was interesting though not a highlight though entertaining non the less! Kas is a fishing village though does have an element of tourism about it. no doubt. Having said that we have been told that Kas very much retains the same charms it had 10 years ago.
Our trusty hire car (aka The Beast) took us on a road trip to the port that you travel to the sunken city of Kekova from. for a little adventure and then after having a good look around the Pennisula we found ourselves at Villa Deniz, our home for the next 7 nights. What a place, just check out the photos they are better than I could ever explain in words Merhaba from Turkey! Expedition continued...Upon mastering the Turkish keyboard, and
the language less so (but I try!) We tracked "Silverman" - (He's FANTASTIC) to Kalkan for a nice lunch with half the population of England... - not for us! Hence we promplty moved onto Kas - We had arrived one day early and tried to secure the villa early - no go - so be it, we had arrived! This was the first place we had booked (in October '09) for 'our little adventure' and don't regret one thing! [url=http://www.perfectplaces.com/vacation-rentals.5303.htm
Having "The Beast", a feisty little 1.2L FIAT for another day, we decided to venture out and about (Ala Turk!) Ucagiz seemed close enough and viable and this is very near Kekova (Sunken City) and Simena which can only be reached by water (another report on these places soon) There are no rules on these roads from what I have witnessed, anything goes! Speed limits are rare, if existent at all...They exist, but are not adhered to unless approaching a town? Go as fast as you can, avoiding oncoming traffic and dropping off the cliffs - easy! I was a little dubious at first, left hand drive, manual but hey - gotta love the Turks - "Give it what for,
and play the game" I had fun...
Edge, edge! was heard early from Julie, but was promptly compensated for (vering left) unless the oncoming traffic was "centered" which made the edge a nice line! We have made it safe and sound and am loving Kas! This place is what we had expected, and more...
This blog is nothing overly significant but us passing time whilst we had "The Beast". Kas, proper to follow very soon (probably tonight?)
PS: Turkish Technical difficulties have been rectified and first round of pics attached
