This morning, we enjoyed our final complimentary breakfast from this hotel. As we have a busy day ahead of us, we decided we needed more selection so headed to the main Chef´s House for the buffet.
With the packing completed, we were checked out by about 11.30am and in a local taxi on our way to the next hotel located in the International Financial Centre aka DIFC. Dubai loves their use of abbreviations.
We have now booked into the four stars Warwick Hotel in downtown Dubai for six nights. The main reason for moving at this point was the price of the Radisson Blu would have been too much for a 10 day stay.
For the Warwick Hotel we are again using one of the Entertainer Travel Book vouchers. This gives us the second night free and then a reduction on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth nights. If we had booked this hotel using our normal booking engine, the four nights would have cost us an additional 1600 AED.
We sought a non-smoking room. After a short wait, we were given the keys to our room on the 18
th floor. This hotel has forty seven floors.
For some odd reason, they have given us a one bedroom suite instead of just a room. We are not complaining though. The Room is large, lavish and spacious with loads of storage space. It also has two bathrooms. Think we will be very comfortable here for the next six days.
This evening, we are heading to a fish restaurant called Bu Qtair that we found about through Trip Advisor. This eatery has an unusual dining style. It is on the coast near to the Burj Al Arab. When we first heard about this eatery, it was simply a shack on the side of the road. Very recently, they have opened a custom made restaurant just down the road.
We took the metro and the bus to get there and had a very interesting ride. It is also a trial run to see if it would be possible to do the route by bus tomorrow for breakfast at the Burj Al Arab. We decided that the times between buses may be a problem, so a taxi is now planned for tomorrow.
The restaurant has a very different concept. They catch the fish in the morning and then
marinade them during the day. You the select a fish and they cook it for you. They also have a big bucket of marinated prawns that they like everyone to try. Still being a bit wary, we chose a small fish and a handful of prawns. We understand from the owner that the fish was called a Crocker fish. However, not sure that is correct as we cannot find it on Google.
The food arrived on plastic plates. It was accompanied by chapati and sauce and two cold drinks. We both agreed that this was probably the best cooked fish we have had.
As the restaurant was still pretty empty, the staff were very happy to talk to us about the restaurant and the fish they catch. They made a real fuss of us.
We will definitely try to make another visit to this place whilst we are in Dubai.
