We vertrekken op tijd met Arke vanaf Schiphol om 22.00 uur.

Na een goede vlucht van 6 ½ uur komen we aan in Dubai en worden naar het Citymax Bur Dubai Hotel gebracht. Het is 9.30 uur. Er is een tijdsverschil met Nederland van 3 uur (terug).

Het hotel ligt in het historisch Bur Dubai District met het zwembad op het dak en een gezellige sportbar.



We kunnen niet inchecken, dus gaan we Dubai verkennen en lopen naar de haven. Het is wel erg warm aan het worden en ik zweet al, ook door het dragen van de camera en rugzak. We lopen vanuit het hotel Kuwait Rd af tot de haven. We komen langs het openlucht museum, waar we even binnenlopen en daarna steken we, door een tunnel onder het water, de Creek over naar het andere oude gedeelte van Dubai met diverse Souks oa de Gold -, Spice - en FishSouk.

Hundreds of small stalls sell gold from many countries, from actual ingots to finely worked jewellery, as well as silver, precious stones and pearls. Gold is aggressively promoted with special offers and raffle draws during Dubai Shopping Festival & Dubai Summer Surprises.



Na de Souk lopen we de Creek langs, waar vele Dhows (grote oude houten boten) worden volgeladen voor vrachtvervoer naar Iran. Veel koelkasten en auto onderdelen zien we.

Naast de rivier zijn ook vele moderne gebouwen (rolex) en Malls gebouwd.

Het is heet en onze voeten gaan pijn doen.

Dubai creek divided the city historically into two main sections – Deira and Bur Dubai and is the reason for the city’s development as a successful trading port with Iran and India. The boat trip of one or two hours down the Creek is the best way to view the attractions on the both sides of the Creek – dhows that line the creek, remarkable buildings and four bridges that cross the Creek.



Met de metro (op Union), de Rode Lijn, gaan we terug naar het hotel.

We ruziën om te worden ingecheckt met het personeel, Deze blijven rustig, maar verlenen geen service en spreken niet voldoende engels. Er zitten heel veel russen in het hotel. Daarvoor zijn veel zaken in het hotel in het Russisch aangepast. Beter is het naar mijn mening de russen engels, (en vaak manieren) te leren.



We gaan 1½ uur op het dak van het hotel bij de Pool liggen en zwemmen.

Om 17.00 uur gaan we naar de Dubai Mall. De benen zijn moe van het vele lopen vanochtend, dus nemen we niet de Metro, naar de Metro is ruim een kwartier lopen.

We nemen een Taxi.

De benzine in Dubai kost 0,35 eurocent per liter.Voor 20 Dh = 4 euro rijden we in de file naar de Dubai Mall.

It is part of the Burj Khalifa complex and attracts more than 750,000 visitors every week. Attractions within the shopping mall include the famous Dubai Aquarium and Under Water Zoo, with the world's largest viewing panel, Dubai Ice Rink, Gold Souk, Fashion Catwalk atrium, Oasis Fountain Waterfall, SEGA Republic indoor park, 250-room luxury hotel, 22 cinema screens etc.



Wanneer we bij de Mall aankomen zien we een mooie skyline van hoge en futuristische gebouwen. Ik neem wat foto’s en gaan naar binnen. We krijgen een déjà vue omdat we vrijwel direct tegen een groot aquarium aanlopen met haaien, veel vissen en duikers. De CheeseCakeFactory is ernaast. Dit lijkt wel Las Vegas! We nemen samen 1 cheesecake en 2 cappi' s.

In Dubai zien we later heel veel gelijkenissen met de Malls en thema’s die we ook in LasVegas tegenkomen.



Bij, en in de Dubai Mall zijn ook de fantastische fonteinen en een waterval waar duikende beelden van duikers het water in duiken.

De Burj Khalifa, staat naast de Mall en fonteinen.



Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai and with its height of 829.84 m is the tallest manmade structure in the world. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010 and is part of the new 2 km2 flagship development called Downtown Dubai. The tower is center for the world’s finest shopping, dining and entertainment.The skyscraper was initially called Burj Dubai, but since its completion coincided with the global financial crisis, the government was forced to seek multibillion dollar bailouts from its oil-rich neighbor emirate Abu Dhabi to complete the tower. In honor of the UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his crucial support of the tower, the tower was renamed Burj Khalifa.



We eten Pizza en salade met uitzicht op de fonteinen.

Later met de metro naar het hotel, waar we in de (sport) bar een biertje ( 6 euro) en wijntje drinken, ook 6 euro. Op de TV’s zijn veel voetbalwedstrijden te zien.

Alcohol wordt in de restaurants niet geschonken. Het is jammer dat in de bar van het hotel gerookt mag worden, De rook komt ons al in de lobby van het hotel tegemoet.

We slapen uit tot 9.30 uur en na een goed ontbijt gaan we met de metro (min 15 min walk) een lange trip naar de IBN Battuta Mall maken.

We zien vanuit de Metro de file op de snelweg, Veel grote SUV’s in de file.

De IBN Battuta Mall is ingericht in diverse delen waar Battuta in zijn tijd naar toe gereisd was. Perzie, Tunesie , Andalusie, Egypte, India en China.



Het is weer heet en ruim boven de 30o wanneer we de Mall inlopen, waar het koel is.

Na wat rond te hebben gelopen en een heerlijke cappi lopen we naar de metro en stappen een halte terug uit voor de Dubai Marine.



Dubai Marina is one of the largest man-made marina in the world and one of the first of the new residential projects in New Dubai. It is created by bringing the waters of the Persian Gulf into the site of Dubai marina. The development of this area is intended to create large urban space with a residential focus and a pedestrian friendly urban community capable of accommodating a large international population. Dubai Marina is designed so that residents can arrive home, park their car and walk around the city, taking full advantage of all the resources in the community. It features apartment buildings, towers named after precious stones and Arabic scents, shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants, line the promenade.



We lopen een stuk van de “Walk”, langs de haven en later over het strand.

We zien weer een aparte skyline en er wordt nog veel gebouwd, oa een nieuwe rail voor metro of tram en ook nog diverse gebouwen worden nieuw of afgebouwd. In 2020 is de EXPO in Dubai en daarom wordt er veel gebouwd.



Nadat we niet meer verder over het strand konden lopen we over bouwprojecten door naar de ingang van “de Palm”, een opgespoten eiland in de vorm van een palmboom. Hier kunnen we niet vrijlopen. De wijken zijn bewaakt en we nemen de monorail naar het mooie hotel Atlantis, dat helemaal aan het eind ligt.

It is one of three islands called the Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira) which extend into the Persian Gulf. Jumeirah Palm island features themed hotels, villas, apartment buildings, beaches, marinas, restaurants, and a variety of retail outlets. The most popular feature being 5 star aqua themed hotel Atlantis.



Vanuit de monorail zien we beter de vorm van het eiland, de Dubai skyline en het watergebeuren van Atlantis. Maar het eiland is zo groot dat het alleen vanuit de lucht goed te zien is.

In Atlantis mogen we niet veel rondlopen, we nemen een Veggieburger en gaan buiten naar de boulevard om de zonsondergang in zee te zien.

Hierna met de Monorail terug en daarna in het donker gelopen naar de metro die nog wel een 25 minuten lopen was met gevaarlijke oversteekacties.



We gaan nog een uurtje naar de Dubai Mall voor een cappi bij de fonteinen en daarna verder naar het hotel voor het Foster biertje en wijntje. Het blijft ’s avonds ook warm genoeg om alleen in je shirt te blijven lopen.

Vandaag om 8:30 op. Mijn voeten voelen weer hersteld aan van het vele lopen van de eerste dagen. Na het ontbijt regelen we eerst de woestijnsafari voor a.s vrijdag. Dit lukt niet in ons eigen hotel, dus doen we het in het hotel ernaast.



We gaan met de metro naar de Mall of the Emirates, waar het skidorp ligt.



Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort, first in the Middle East, with 22,500 square meters of indoor ski area. It is a part of the Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest shopping malls in the world. Ski Dubai has 5 runs that vary in difficulty, height and gradient where skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will enjoy various slopes and snowboarders can also practice their stunts in the Freestyle Zone.



Deze Mall is zeer luxe, erg mooi gebouwd. In het skidorp zien we veel mensen die gaan genieten van de sneeuw, die ze nog nooit hebben gezien.

Koffie nemen we ook hier in de CheeseCakeFactory.



We nemen hierna een taxi naar de Madinat Souk, die bijna aan de kust ligt. Souk Madinat bestaat uit kleinschalige winkels met lokale produkten. Kleding, waterpijpen, tapijten en lampen. Via een waterpartij kom je bij Burj Al Arab maar natuurlijk stuiten we op bewaking.



Burj Al Arab is one of the most luxurious, and with height of 321m, it is fourth tallest hotel in the world. The building itself is one of the most photographed monuments in the world and is recognized as the symbol of Dubai. The shape of the building is designed to mimic the sail of a dhow – traditional sailing vessel. The building stands on artificial island and it is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge.



Er zijn kleine straatjes en ook waterwegen, waar op je met de boot kan. Voor het hotel zien we veel luxe auto’s zoals Ferrari’s en Bentley’s.



“Burj Al Arab” moet op een zeilboot lijken. Dit hotel kan je niet zomaar naar binnen. We lopen ernaar toe door de hoofdweg te volgen langs de kust. Na de foto lopen we door naar het Jumeirah Hotel, dat op een grote boot lijkt. We gaan even naar binnen, erg sjiek allemaal. We lopen iets verder en gaan het strand op en blijven hier een uurtje. De zee is heerlijk.



Het is 16:00 uur en we lopen het strand af en volgen verder de Jumeirah Street.

We lopen erg lang door, komen nog langs een botenopslagplaats, werkplaats een visserijhaven en langs een mooi strand waar veel gesport wordt en een Hollandse poffertjeskraam staat. De zon gaat onder. We lopen nog 1 uur door en we zien Moskees die mooi verlicht zijn. Onze voeten willen niet meer en we willen een taxi, maar die zijn hier niet veel.



Eindelijk vinden we er toch een, weer een dure Lexus, die het dubbele tarief vraagt, maar we nemen deze toch.

Naar de Dubai Mall voor een salade bij de CheeseCakeFactory en dan weer de afsluiter van het Foster biertje in het hotel in onze rokerige bar met veel russen.



14/11/13

We staan vroeg op omdat we om 10.00 uur de Jumeirah Moskee gaan bezoeken. Hier kan je als niet Moslim de Moskee in. We zien dat het erg druk is met belangstellenden uit vele landen.

De uitleg wordt gedaan door een dame uit de UK die getrouwd is met een Moslim uit Dubai en later Moslima is geworden. Zij vertelt e.e.a. over het Moslim zijn en de gebruiken. Het duurt ruim 1½ uur, maar ze doet haar verhaal op een leuke manier. Het is erg heet en de zon steekt.

We gaan hierna naar de overkant waar een Starbuck is, (Wilma is jarig en heeft hoofdpijn).

Op het zebrapad met verkeerslichten wordt direct achter mij een jongen met fiets door een grote SUV met iemand in een wit sjeikpak achter het stuur aangereden. Hij heeft gelukkig niets, maar de fiets is krom. Hopelijk wordt de jongen financieel goed behandeld door deze sjeik.



Wilma’s hoofdpijn zakt na de koffie en we nemen een taxi naar de “Old Souk” de Bur Dubai Souk bij de Creek.

We lopen door de kleine straatjes, waar veel verkopers ons van alles willen aansmeren.

Ik koop een voetbalshirt en Wilma een rok.

We bezoeken het Dubai Museum en zien dat er na de olievondsten in 1969 Dubai snel is veranderd. Het weer wordt meer bewolkt.

The museum contains exhibits presenting traditional way of life in the Dubai Emirate - including souk, fishing, domestic and desert travel scenes. Some pieces date back 4000 years. Galleries show scenes from the Creek, traditional Arab houses, mosques, the souk, date farms as well as desert and marine life.



We nemen de abra (lokale boot) naar de overkant (1 DH) en lopen nog wat over de spice- en gold souk.

Lunch gebruiken we (falafel en een soort empanada’s) aan de andere kant aan het water, dus weer met de abra.

We nemen net voor het donker wordt nu de groene lijn metro naar de WaFi Mall.

Deze Mall heeft veel Egyptische invloeden en lijkt op een grote Pyramide. Ook Abu Simbel is nagebouwd, weer een beetje Las Vegas gevoel.

Het is binnen weer heel mooi en luxe, ook het Raffles Hotel (het origineel ooit gezien in Singapore) is hieraan vast gebouwd.



Vandaag hadden we 4 druppels regen.

Met de Metro naar het hotel, voor de gebruikelijke afsluiter.

Na het ontbijt lopen de naar de Burjaman Mall, die een paar straten achter ons hotel ligt,

Het is vrijdag, dus de meeste winkels zijn dicht en gaan pas in de namiddag weer open..



Dit is voor de moslims de zondag. Ook de metro rijdt niet !!. De Mall is niets omdat deze ook geheel wordt verbouwd. Het is licht bewolkt en lekker weer. Na 1½ uur lopen en een groot cappi bij de “Second Cup” gaan we bij het zwembad liggen. We lezen en zwemmen wat.



Om 15:00 uur gaan we op woestijnsafari mee.



One of the most visited and famous activities in Dubai are desert safari tours. Safari tours in Land Cruisers and Hummers take visitors right into the heart of the desert where they experience the excitement of a roller-coaster tour down the astonishing high dunes (dune bashing). The exciting dune bashing usually includes visit to the traditional village where one can get insight into the traditional life of the Bedouins, try the 'hubbly-bubbly/sheesha' and the henna painting or can enjoy one of the activities such as camel ride, sand boarding, and belly dancing.



We worden opgehaald met een grote Toyota jeep en halen nog een Indiaas gezin op. Zij komen uit Australië en gaan op bezoek bij familie in India. Wanneer zij een stopover maken in Dubai, krijgen ze 300 Dollar pp korting op de vlucht. Kunnen ze dit geld uitgeven in Dubai, en dat doen ze ook flink, vertelde hij mij.



In de woestijn scheuren we wat over duinpannen, hangen soms erg scheef en worden door elkaar geschud, wel in de riemen.

We zien een kamelenkamp en gaan naar het kamp waar we een buffet krijgen. Ook een danser en buikdanseres treden op. Wilma neemt een henna tattoo.

De zon gaat onder en na de maaltijd (veel vegetarisch en lekker) rijden we terug naar het hotel, waar we om 20:45 arriveren.



We lopen nog de drukke straat naast ons hotel af, kopen slippers voor Wilma en om 11:45 gaan we de voetbalwedstrijd kijken in de bar tussen Portugal en Zweden voor het WK ticket.

Portugal wint door een laat doelpunt.



16/11/13

Na ontbijt met de metro het lange stuk naar de Dubai Marina, Zoals elke ochtend is het erg druk in de metro en we moeten bijna altijd staan. Ook het uitstappen gaat niet echt fatsoenlijk. Wanneer je niet jezelf eruit duwt, kom je er niet uit.

We lopen nu het deel van “de Walk” wat we vorige keer niet gelopen hebben. We lopen langs de haven op de boulevard, waar veel tentjes zijn voor eten en drinken. Je betaalt hier wel het uitzicht op de mooie skyline en waterweg.

Veel is nog niet open en op veel plaatsen zijn ze bezig met bouwwerkzaamheden.

Na de cappi gaan we met de waterbus over het water terug naar waar we begonnen zijn.



We nemen een taxi, met een aardige chauffeur, naar het strandje op de Jumeirah Street, waar we een paar dagen geleden langs waren gekomen en ons erg leuk leek, omdat er hier veel gesport wordt.

We lezen hier wat onder een strooien vaste parasol en ik ga nog 2x zwemmen in zee.

De Politie op Arabische paarden loopt nog langs.

Om 17:00 uur nemen we (na eerst weer de Lexus te hebben afgewezen) met moeite een taxi naar de Dubai Mall voor een salade en Pizza buiten bij de fonteinenshow.

We lopen later nog wat rond, kopen dadels voor thuis en gaan met de metro naar het hotel, voor de gebruikelijke afsluiter.



17/11/13

We staan om 8:00 uur op en na het ontbijt wandelen we naar de “Old Souk”.

We lopen door kleine en drukke straatjes van de Indiase en Pakistaanse gemeenschap.

De meeste handelaren en het runnen van winkeltjes in Dubai zijn Indiase mensen.

We zien, het is zondag, veel Indiase mensen, ook sikhs op straat lopen, allemaal erg opgedirkt in prachtige kleuren. Men kwam van een godsdienstviering. Ze krijgen allemaal een ontbijt en de vrouwen doen een slinger in het haar. Ook wij krijgen iets zoetigs aangeboden. Het smaakte lekker.

We ruilen mijn voetbalshirt, omdat erg een vlek op zat, en Wilma koopt nog 2 kleurige rokken en een shawl.

We lopen naar de Metro gaan naar de Dubai Mall. We stappen een halte later uit om foto´s te nemen van de skyline met de Burj Khalifa. We lopen ook hier door een bouwput.

Het is jammer genoeg erg bewolkt, dat niet goed voor de foto´s is.

Om 13:00 uur zijn we in de Mall en nemen voor de laatste keer een CheeseCake in de CheeseCakeFactory in het Souk gedeelte.



We gaan vandaag naar de 124^e verdieping van de Burj Khalifa. Thuis hadden we voor vandaag 15:30 uur online geboekt (dit is veel goedkoper en niet uitverkocht) De lift gaat met 10 mtr per seconde omhoog. Je voelt alleen je oren wat.

Gelukkig hebben we nog even goed zicht voor de foto’s, maar snel komt er een storm aan en het zicht wordt snel minder. Je kan buiten op een platform lopen met dikke ruiten ervoor. Er zijn wel openingen tussen de ruiten, zodat je foto’s zonder de ruit kan nemen.

De storm levert leuke beelden op van bezoekers waarvan de haren overeind staan en rokken die omhoog waaien. Het koelt ook flink af.



We wachten totdat het donker wordt en maken vele foto’s. We zien de fonteinen van boven in actie. Het weer wordt gelukkig kalm en we hebben voldoende uitzicht.

We kunnen nergens zitten, mogen dat niet op de grond en na 3 uur op onze benen staan, gaan we om half 7 naar beneden. We gaan toch weer naar de CheeseCakeFactory, Nu voor de Veggieburger.

Wilma heeft het voor het eerst koud, dat verandert wanneer we buiten naar de Metro lopen.



Met de Metro naar het Hotel, voor laatste keer de gebruikelijke afsluiter.

Om 5:00 uur op en met ontbijtpakket naar het vliegveld.

We stijgen iets na 9:00 uur op en hoeven door de harde meewind geen tussenlanding maken in Bulgarije. Dat is goed nieuws, en na wat turbulentie landen we na 6 ½ uur op Schiphol.

Het is koud.



Dubai is een aparte stad met (na de zomer) heerlijk weer. Met voldoende mogelijkheden om, wanneer je niet alleen op het strand wilt verblijven, een week vol kan te maken.

After a good flight of 6 ½ hours we arrive in Dubai and brought to the Citymax Hotel Bur Dubai . It is 9.30. There is a difference with the Netherlands of 3 hours ( back ) .

Located in the historic Bur Dubai district with a rooftop pool and a lively sports bar .



We can not check in , so we're going to explore Dubai and walk to the harbor . It is very hot to be and I sweat all, even by wearing the camera and backpack . We walk from the hotel on Kuwait Road to the port . We pass the open-air museum , where we just walk in and then we , stabbing through a tunnel under the water , the Creek over to another old part of Dubai with several such as the Gold Souks - Spice - Souk and Fish .

After the Souk we walk along the Creek , where many Dhows ( big old wooden boats ) are loaded cargo to Iran . Many refrigerators and car parts we see.

Next to the river are also many modern buildings ( Rolex ) and Malls built .

With the subway ( Union) , the Red Line , we go back to the hotel .

We fight to be checked with the staff , keep this quiet, but provide no service and do not speak enough English. There are a lot of Russians in the hotel . This requires a lot of things at the hotel adapted in Russian. It is better in my opinion the Russians english (and often ways ) to learn.



We go 1 ½ hours on the roof of the hotel at the Pool and are swimming.

At 17.00 we go to the Dubai Mall . The legs are tired from all the walking this morning , so we do not take the Metro to the Metro is running more than a quarter .

When we arrive at the mall we see a beautiful skyline of tall buildings and futuristic . I take some pictures and go inside. We get a sense of déjà vue because we see a huge aquarium with sharks call almost immediately , many fish divers . The Cheesecake Factory is next . This looks like Las Vegas ! We take along one cheesecake and cappi .

In Dubai we later see many similarities with the Malls and themes that we encounter in Las Vegas .



Case , and the Dubai Mall are also fantastic fountains and a waterfall where diving images of divers dive into the water .

We eat pizza and salad overlooking the fountains .

Later with the metro to the hotel, where we are in the (sports ) bar a beer ( 6 euros ) and wining , also 6 euros . The TV 's are seen . Much football

Alcohol is not served at the restaurants. It is unfortunate that may be smoked in the hotel bar , the smoke comes to us all in the hotel lobby meeting .

We sleep in until 9:30 am and after a good breakfast we take the metro ( min 15 min walk ) a long trip to make the IBN Battuta Mall .

We see from the Metro , the traffic jam on the highway , many large SUVs in the file .

The IBN Battuta Mall is decorated in various parts where Battuta had traveled to in his time . Persia , Tunisia , Andalusia, Egypt , India and China .



It is hot again, and well above the 30o when we walk into the mall , where it's cool .

After having walked around and a wonderful cappi we walk to the subway stop and step back from the Dubai Marine .



Dubai Marina is one of the largest man-made marina in the world and one of the first of the new residential projects in New Dubai . It was created by bringing the waters of the Persian Gulf into the site of Dubai marina . The development of this area is intended to create large urban space with a residential focus and a pedestrian friendly urban community capable of accommodating a large international population . Dubai Marina is designed So THAT residents can arrive home park Their car and walk around the city , taking full advantage of all the resources in the community . It features apartment buildings , towers named after precious stones and Arabic scents , shops , cafes , bars , and restaurants line the promenade .



We run a lot of the " Walk" , along the harbor and later on the beach .

We see a distinct skyline and it is much built , including a new rail for metro or tram , and also various buildings are new or reduced. In 2020 EXPO in Dubai and this is why many built .



After we could not continue on the beach we go about building projects through to the entrance of the " Palm " , a man made island in the shape of a palm tree . We can not walk freely . The districts are monitored and we take the monorail to the beautiful Atlantis , located at the very end .



Palm Island Dubai ( Jumeirah Palm Island ) is one of the most ambitious real estate developments on earth , Heralded as the 8th wonder of the world as it can be seen from space alongwith another major landmark , The Great Wall of China . It is one of three islands called the Palm Islands ( Palm Jumeirah , Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira ) Which extend into the Persian Gulf . Jumeirah Palm island features themed hotels , villas , apartment buildings , beaches , marinas , restaurants , and a variety of retail outlets . The most popular feature being 5 star aqua themed Atlantis .



From the monorail , we see better the shape of the island , the Dubai skyline and the water carried from Atlantis . But the island is so large that it is only from the air can be seen .

In Atlantis , we may not move around much , we take a veggieburger and go out to the waterfront to see the sunset. Marine

Below the Monorail back and then in the darkness walked to the subway that still a 25 minute walk was dangerous crossing operations .



We go one hour to the Dubai Mall for a cappi in the fountains and on to the hotel for Foster beer and wine . It continues evening also warm enough to just keep walking. In your shirt

Today at 8:30 . My feet feel restored to many of the running of the first day . After breakfast we'll arrange the first desert safari for next Friday . This does not work in our hotel , so we do it in the hotel next door .



We take the metro to the Mall of the Emirates , where the ski resort is .



Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort , first in the Middle East , with 22,500 square meters of indoor ski area . It is a part of the Mall of the Emirates , one of the largest shopping malls in the world . Ski Dubai has 5 runs vary in difficulty That , height and gradient where skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will enjoy various slopes and snowboarders can practice usefull Their stunts in the Freestyle Zone.



This mall is very upscale , very nicely built . In the ski village , we see many people who are going to enjoy the snow , they have never seen .

Coffee we take here at the Cheesecake Factory.



We then take a taxi to the Madinat Souk , which is almost on the coast . Souk Madinat consists of small shops selling local products . Clothing , water pipes , rugs and lamps. Through a water feature you come to Burj Al Arab , but of course we encounter monitoring.



Burj Al Arab is one of the most luxurious , and with height of 321m , it is fourth tallest hotel in the world . The building itself is one of the most photographed monuments in the world and is recognized as the symbol of Dubai . The shape of the building is designed to mimic the sail of a dhow - traditional sailing vessel . The building stands on artificial island and it is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge .



There are small streets and waterways , on which you can take the boat . The hotel we see many luxury cars like Ferraris and Bentleys .



" Burj Al Arab " should appear on a sailboat . This hotel you can not just inside. We walk towards it by following along the coast the main road. After the photo , we proceed to the Jumeirah Hotel, which looks like a big boat. We go in, all very chic . We walk a little further and go to the beach and stay here for an hour . The sea is lovely .



It's 16:00 and we walk the beach and follow the on Jumeirah Street.

We walk through a long , still come along a boat storage , workshop a fishing port and along a beautiful beach where a lot of exercising and a Dutch pancakes stall condition . The sun goes down. We walk one hour and we see Mosques which are nicely lit . Our feet do not want more and we want a taxi , but those are not much here.



Finally , we do find one, again an expensive Lexus , which requires double the rate , but we take it anyway .

To the Dubai Mall for a salad at the Cheesecake Factory and then closes the Foster beer at the hotel in our smoky bar with lots of Russians .



11/14/13

We get up early because we are going to visit at 10:00 . Jumeirah Mosque Here you can if not the Muslim Mosque . We see that it is very busy with interested parties from many countries .



The explanation is done by a lady from the UK who is married to a Muslim from Dubai and Muslim later became. She tells what about the Muslim and use . It takes about 1 ½ hours , but she tells her story in a fun way . It is very hot and the sun lights .

We then go to the other side where a Starbuck 's , ( Wilma 's birthday and headache) .

At the crosswalk with traffic is a boy with bike hit directly behind me by a large SUV with someone in a white sjeikpak behind the wheel . He has nothing happy, but the bike is crooked . Hopefully the kid financially well handled by this sheik .



Wilma's headache collapses after coffee and take a taxi to the "Old Souk " the Bur Dubai Souk at the Creek .

We walk through the narrow streets , where many vendors trying to sell us. Anything

I buy a football shirt and a skirt Wilma .

We visit the Dubai Museum and see that things have changed . Soon after the oil discoveries in 1969, Dubai The weather is more cloudy.



Established in the Al Fahidi ruler 's 18th century fort , the Dubai Museum is the main museum in Dubai . The museum contains exhibits presenting traditional way of life in the Emirate Dubai - souk -including , fishing , domestic travel and desert scenes . Some pieces date back 4000 years . Galleries show scenes from the Creek , traditional Arab houses , mosques , the souk , date farms as well as desert and marine life .



We take the abra ( local boat ) to the other side ( DH 1 ) and run some of the spice and gold souk .

We use lunch ( falafel and a kind of empanadas ) on the other side of the water, so again with the abra .

We take just before dark is now the green line metro to the Wafi Mall .

This mall has many Egyptian influences and resembles a large pyramid . Abu Simbel is also reconstructed , again a little Las Vegas feeling.

It is very beautiful and luxurious in again , even the Raffles Hotel (the original ever seen in Singapore) is bolted thereto .



Today we had four drops of rain .

With the Metro to the hotel for the usual valve .



11/15/13

After breakfast walk to the Burjaman Mall , a few blocks behind our hotel logs ,

It's Friday, so most shops are closed and will only open again in the afternoon ..



This is for the Muslims Sunday. The metro runs out ! . The Mall is nothing because it also is grown entirely . It is cloudy and nice weather . After 1 ½ hour walk and a large cappi the " Second Cup " we lie by the pool. We read and swim out .



At 15:00 am we go on desert safari along.



One of the most visited and famous activities in Dubai are desert safari tours . Safari tours in Land Cruisers and Hummers take visitors right into the heart of the desert where they experience the excitement of a roller -coaster tour down the astonishing high dunes ( dune bashing ) . The exciting dune bashing Usually includes visit to the traditional village where one can get insight into the traditional life of the Bedouins , try the ' hubbly-bubbly/sheesha ' and the henna painting or can enjoy one of the activities zoals camel ride , sand boarding , and bellydancing .



We are picked up by a large Toyota jeep and get even an Indian family . They come from Australia and are visiting family in India . When they make a stop over in Dubai , they get 300 Dollars per person discount on the flight . They can spend this money in Dubai , and they do quite well , he told me.



In the desert we tear what about hollows , hang sometimes very crooked and shaken , but the straps .

We see a camel camp and go to the camp where we have a buffet. Also a dancer and belly dancer occur . Wilma takes a henna tattoo .

The sun goes down and after meals ( many vegetarian and delicious ) we drive back to the hotel , where we arrive at 20:45 .



We walk the busy street next to our hotel off , buy slippers for Wilma and at 11:45 we're going to watch the football in the bar between Portugal and Sweden for the World Cup ticket.

Portugal wins by a late goal.



11/16/13

After breakfast on the metro the long piece to the Dubai Marina , like every morning is very busy in the metro and we should almost always be . Also, it does not get really decent . If you do not push yourself out, you can not get out .

We now run the part of the " Walk" we have not gone before. We walk along the harbor promenade , where many stalls for food and drink. You pay here have views of the beautiful skyline and waterways .

Much is still open and in many places they are engaged in construction work.

After cappi we take the water bus across the water back to where we started.



We take a cab with a nice driver , to the beach at Jumeirah Street, where we were stopped by a couple of days ago and seemed very nice , because a lot is exercised .

Here we learn what constitutes a straw parasol and I'm still 2x swim in the sea .

Police on Arabian horses is still down .

At 17:00 we take (after again having rejected the Lexus ) with difficulty a taxi to the Dubai Mall for a salad and pizza outside by the fountain show .

We walk around a bit later , purchase dates for home and take the metro to the hotel for the usual valve .



11/17/13

We get up at 8:00 am and after breakfast we walk to the "Old Souk " .

We walk through small and crowded streets of the Indian and Pakistani community .

Most traders and running shops in Dubai are Indian people .

We can see , it's Sunday , many Indian people , even Sikhs walking down the street , all very dressy in beautiful colors . One came from a religious celebration . They all get a

Breakfast and women do a garland in her hair . We also get offered something sweet . It tasted delicious.



We trade my football shirt , because very scuffed and Wilma buy 2 colored skirts and a shawl .

We walk to the Metro to go to the Dubai Mall . We get a stop later to take the skyline with the Burj Khalifa pictures. We walk through a building site here .

It is unfortunately very cloudy , which is not good for the pictures .

At 13:00 pm we are at the mall and take the last time a Cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory in the Souk area .



We're going to the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa . At home we had booked online today 15:30 h ( this is much cheaper and not sold out ) The elevator goes up to 10 meters per second . You feel just what your ears .

Fortunately, we still have some good visibility for the pictures , but soon there will be a storm , and the visibility is less rapidly . You can walk outside on a platform with thick panes before. There are gaps between the windows, so you can close the window without taking pictures.

The storm produces nice images of visitors whose hair stands on end and skirts that blow up . It also cools considerably.



We wait until it gets dark and take many pictures . We see the fountains from above in action . The weather is calm and happy we have enough views .

We can sit anywhere , not allowed on the ground and after 3 hours standing on our feet , we are going down at half 7 . W still go back to the Cheesecake Factory , for now the veggieburger .

Wilma has for the first cold that changes when we walk outside to the Metro .

At 5:00 am and breakfast package at the airport.

We climb a little after 9:00 am and do the hard tailwind not stop in Bulgaria . That's good news , and after some turbulence , we land at 6 ½ hours at the airport .

It's cold.



Dubai is a separate city ( after the summer ) lovely weather . With plenty of opportunities , not just when you want to stay on the beach for a week can make full.
