Ras Al Jinz fisherman
Oman, Ras al Jinz. Fisherman walking along the beach with his catch of the day Hallo everybody, here it is, our first Blog entry! We kept you waiting for a long time, we know..but the reason is definitely a good one: We have been so busy with doing all kinds of stuff, we have not been able to write some stuff down for you all. But here it is, enjoy! 😊
Our travels started with Stephanie arriving in Oman. As we call it, Oman 2.0. After an amazing time in April, Stephanie was determined to come and visit Oman, Muscat again. And it was great, yet again! We went to the new, just opened Royal Opera House (Swan Lake Ballet), went on a Wadi trip and slept on the beach, went to Nizwa, had great Barbies, had lovely nights out for dinner (our favorite restaurant Kargeen was not left out of course, jammie jammie!! Favorite dish: Zatar Bread), sat in the sand and loved the sun! And lots more..busy times and especially good times!! Not to forget, Stephanies greatest hour: her starting a water fight with my dad 😉! But time came to get going, it was time to get packed...which was a easier task for Stephanie then it was for me (Nicole). But in the end, we both managed to get our life in a bag, both around 12kgs! Here we come - next stop: Dubai! Staying at Heidi's!
And man Dubai..it is BIG!!! Big towers (all shapes and sizes), big roads, to many cars, metro stations that look like UFO's (very good to spot though😉), different faces, new people and loads of stuff to see! With our list of sights by our side, we headed off to discover Dubai. And with that comes our new favorite hobby: walking! Off to the Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Fountains, Aquarium and just all the shops you can think of..summary: big! Went to the Creek (walked), and went on day trips to KhurFakkan and Furjairah (car, this time) and saw the lovely town Al Ain..the UAE as it is outside the plastic fantastic Dubai. Even had a lovely lunch in the Park with local ladies in Al Ain, an experience which was great. But not to forget also some very funny things we can not forget: a man doing the prayers in a mosque, who had a cough..every 5secs! Were guided through a Hospital to get to the Metrostation (UFO Ship), men following us in the souq with their pashminas and men asking if we wanted viagra (responding with the question if maybe they needed some?), and men asking us we wanted fake bags of Chanel, Prada etc., and responding with the question: you don't think I am pretty enough, that I need a handbag? - That shut them up 😉. Discovering Duke (Heidi's cat) is a fan of hair, he eats it! With still four days to come..it probably does not end here...only time will tell.
Our travels are just starting, and you will definitely hear more from us! With more stories about Dubai and the start of our travels in Asia: Bangkok! Will be there for three nights in the lovely hostel we found Lub D, before we are off to Cambodia! See you all in our next Blog, when were that will be..can't say!
Let us know what is going on in Holland and other places. Any tips and tricks you haven't tolled us yet...don't hesitate, just tell!!
Ciao Ciao! Hugs and Kisses!!
P.s. Photo's are coming, have to work out how we upload them.
