So its the second day of our trip and I am awoken by the alarm clock and for some reason I think I have to go to work!! I asked Johanna what do we have to get up as I was all disoriented and thought it was still the middle of the night which back in the UK it was!! Today is the day that I had planned for, I actually did this exactly the same one year ago on my way back from China but its not the same when your doing it on your your own!!
We started with a nice breakfast and then it was off to Aquaventure in Atlantis the Palm, not exactly the cheapest water park in the world as but the time you get your towel and lockers you talking £100 for two people!! But I have to say it is amazing, get your rubber ring and jump in and the water does the rest you only have to paddle occasionally to chose which option your want, the rapids, the torrent or some sort of ride you takes you up on a conveyor belt and then drops your down through a pitch black tunnel!!!
Yes I am sure you could hear the screams from Johanna back in the UK!!!
There is also the most amazing slide were you end up in a Perspex tube going right through the middle of the shark and sting ray tank!! Scarey when I shark starts coming for you!! The only think that spoilt it was my so called water proof camera broke when water got in!!! Waterproof to 5m my Ar53!! Anyway after taking a few pictures with Johanna non waterproof camera it was time to head off and get ready for the next installement!
Quick shower and shave (that was just Johanna!) and then a short taxi ride to the Burj Al Arab probably the most luxurios hotels in the world. It was up to the 26th floor to the sky bar before taking our seats right in the window overlooking Dubai. You cant even get in the gates unless you have a booking and from the second you get in you are made to feel like royalty even though we were only there for afternoon tea. With it being of the most holy days in Dubai there was no Alcohol until 6pm that night but
to be honest the date sparking juice was just as nice after a big day in the sun. The food you get is more than a meal, you start with your fruit bowl, the Salmon wellington before onto the selection of sandwiches. Johanna hate se boja or onions to me and you so they brought out a special plate with the ones with onions in for me! You also get a nice selection of cakes as well before your scones with passion fruit jam and clotted cream (bet your mouth is watering now!).
After we had finished and admired the sun set we walked around the hotel for a while and were dazzled by the fountains were the music actually made a tune don’t ask me how! The marble floors and the gold leaf everywhere just shows the wealth created by black gold out here, the amount of 4 x 4 and huge engine cars everywhere is mainly due to the fact petrol is so cheap! Even the taxis are 2.5 toyota's and they always seem to have their foot to the floor!
After the Berj is was a nice stroll the Jumeriah shopping centre for a nice
beer as it was after 6pm by now although to be honest the draft beer was not very nice at all!!! O well another say another Derum!!
