My bedroom
Bought this set used. Great Deal! I love it that every plant has its own irrigation system with it.
I love that when workers deliver something, they put it together for free. I hate the fact that they don’t use deodorant, and some smoke in your home.
I love that when my internet wasn’t working I didn’t have to call a number to run me through a time consuming series of prompts, and wait days for a technician to come out. I saw the technicians truck, sent Abdullah (He loves Abdullah), and within 5 minutes he was here and fixed it. I hate that his partner asked me if I was Muslim and when I said yes he told me to make him tea.
I love when driving through Emirates I see such picturesque scenery. I often feel like I live in a post card.
I love that everyone is outside at night kids playing ping pong, basketball, riding their bikes. I hate it that I see young teenage boys in Jilbabs smoking, and American teachers also outside, smoking.
I love that I feel so safe as a human being. I don’t worry about someone kidnapping my children, or robbing us, or trying to hurt us. My
one big worry is that someone may run down my kids with their car. I hate that some folks drive extremely fast and do not think of the children even in parking lots. (This has changed a great deal since I originally wrote this. Since I have heard horror stories about maids and have been reading Emirates 24/7 news.) I Hate that there are ass---- no matter where you go.
I love it that my washing machine really spins the clothes well and when I hang them outside they are dry in minutes.
I hate that even the stores here have Halloween and Christmas decorations and they decorate the malls for Xmas.
I hate that I have to learn everything all over again, such as, learning how to use a washing machine and turn on the oven. I wanted to heat up something for lunch ½ hour to get the oven to work. Read the book you say? I did, but guess what? The book didn’t go to MY oven. Ok… still, I think if I get the general idea of how the ovens work over here I’ll be all set. I read the book anyway. Well, the directions tell
you how the oven cooks; it doesn’t tell you how to turn it on! I guess I need the Appliances For Dummy’s version.
Hate it that everything is shrunken: All mops, brooms, and floor brush handles are about 1 foot shorter than at home, kills my back…I am thinking do they make this stuff for midgets,… I mean little people. It really bugs me!!! Also the stove is about a good 8 inches shorter. The ironing board my husband bought. OMG only pictures can express the ironing board. I have to take a picture of it, and the people here are not short they are rather tall I think.
Another thing I absolutely hate is, UAE has not discovered vinyl stickers yet, and they love to put big stickers, little stickers, and abundant stickers on everything and they are extremely difficult to get off. My nice new stove came with big stickers all over it. My husband finally got those off. My brand new front loader washing machine that I have always wanted came with great big stickers too! I am still working on getting those off. I haven’t found goop? I think that’s what I used at home to
help remove stickiness.
Listen to this-Our gas meter and stuff is inside one of the kitchen cabinets. So whoever built this place decided to post instructions with a big sticker on the FRONT of the cabinets. Jeekers!!!!! Duh couldn’t you post it on the inside of the door? Then the gas guy comes and posts his ugly sticker right under those! Come on!!! A little common sense isn’t too much to ask for, and yup I tried to gently peel the first one off and AAAGGGHGGHGHG!!!!! So irritating. My father would literally have a nervous breakdown if he saw that, lol! I can hear him now. “What idiot put the stickers on the front of the cabinet and ruined this nice wood, for crying out Loud! (actually he’d probably say JC), but I won’t write it), you have to be a complete zero to do this, ahhh man!” But then again common sense isn’t so common is it?
I also hate that there are not enough electrical outlets. The bathrooms have NO outlets, not one. How are you supposed to blowdry or flatiron your hair? Or use an electric shaver? The kitchen has one outlet, besides the
refridgerator, stove, and washer outlet, and I mean one. Not one with 2 in it. so we constantly have to unplug and plug to use the toaster and microwave. It will be interesting when I get a mixer and/or blender.
I love that we have a garbage shoot right in our hallway outside our door!!! and its in its own little room. That is very convenient.
I really didn’t have to much to say right now in my blog I just had these random thoughts to share….. We did go to the zoo but it was a bit late so we didnt get to see it all. its a very nice zoo though when we go back I will take more pictures Insha Allah (God willing)
I did go to Dubai, By myself, by the time I got there it was night and I was tired so I really didn’t take in too much of the scenery. From what I could see it looked like a cross between Vegas & Times Square. I will let you know more the next time I go Insha Allah. It should be soon.
