Turkey is the first Muslim country that I've been to, and so far I like it. I think they've still got a bit of work to do before they'll be a part of the EU, but there are a lot of cool things to do and see here for sure. 2weeks wasn't nearly enough time for a decent look around, but I saw quite a lot and got out of there with out buying a carpet so I did allright. I started off with a few days in Istanbul, then headed over to the West to check out Gallipoli and all the ANZAC stuff. I really enjoyed that, and even got picked up by a couple of Turkish guys who showed me all the spots, bought me a t-shirt, drove me back to Gallipoli and bought me dinner so I had a great day! Gallipoli is actually just a fishing town about a half/hr away from where the Anzacs landed and all the action took place. nice spot though, and real good seafood! A few things I've learnt about Turkey - they have prayer time 5 times a day where Prayers blast out from the towers by the mosques and the
typical Turkish breakfast
check out that tea cup - they're every where here! Religous people stop what they're doing and get on their knees and pray. you're not allowed to cross your legs during prayer time. Turkish delight is called "Lokum" here, and it's a lot better then anything I've had before. Most of the men in Tourism are pretty dodgey so girls get quite a hard time, but other then that the people are generaly nice. Everyone smokes too. I met this one dude who smokes 4packs of Malborough Reds a day! stray cats and Shoe-shiners rule most cities, and I reckon everyone drinks about 5ltrs of tea every day. all of the above however happens around the Back-gammon table and Shisha pipes. pretty cruisey lifestyle in general, but quite an expensive place to travel.

amazing pics
Hey Russell Those photos are just great. They have really given me quite an insight into the country there. Oh and the turkish delight looks fantastic. Did you know you can smoke a shisha pipe in Ponsonby, just a few doors away from where I live? Lots of love Francie
