Turkey is a nice place for a holiday. Of course I try to avoid “nice” places, but it’s a nice change for a bit. It’s easy to travel in, at the moment it has lovely weather, the people are friendly, and in the tourist areas everyone speaks English and probably German and a few other languages. UPDATE (April 2013) This site was the blog I kept for my long-term travels, mainly through Asia, in 2009-2010. I'm not maintaining it any more. I've done numerous trips since then but haven't kept them on this blog. I did run my own blog for a year but unfortunately lost that data. Fishermen fishing off the Galata Bridge, across the Golden Horn, between the CBD and the real Old City, both on the European side. The fresh fish are sold at restaurants and markets a few metres away.
