Gorgeous coastline
This was my first adventure out of Dubai without emirates......and our...first holiday together. And we both survived and also had a very surprisingly great time and fell in love with a country that is rarely visited but has sooo much to offer in beauty, over whelming hospitality and crazy adventures for the unexpecting tourists.....it is a deffinete must see for the middle east.

Its only a quick 40 minute flt to muscatfrom Dubai but we thought we would be adventureous and hire a car and drive from the U.A.E to Oman....not an easy feat but again we were a strong team....with a good driver Dave and an exceptional navigator me.....So off we went to explore......we apparently thought we were rock stars on this particular holiday but it added to the adventure. Crossing the borders was interesting with us pretending we were married as unmarried women cannot travel in a car with a man to cross the border into Oman so we had to swope rings each time we had to stop through borders( and there were many stop points...) but funny enough both of us very quickly swoped our rings back off our wedding fingers quicker than you can say divorce!!! haahahhah
We stayed at the gorgeous Shangri La- Barr al jissar resort (again rock stars) its a popular area for divers so very beautifull....we mostly just enjloyed all the delights this resort had to offer food wine many cocktails even a spot of tennis which im sure dave will never again ask me to play......and lounging by the ocean in the persian gulf.
We explored the old town with its many forts and temples even tried our luck at the local markets but unless we wanted to buy 1000 scissors or perhaps a dishdash (local dress for men)for dave wasnt what i was looking for.......
We drove down the coast road.....which is yet to be built so lucky we got oursleves a big 4wd..(again rockstars) and drove off road to a place called Tiwi which had an amazing wadi (dry creek bed) but was a massive gorge with rock pools and palm tree oasis hidden from the world.
Along the drive home we stoped along the sandy beaches to go for a dip in the gulf and was so fantastic to have the whole entire beach to yourself......all along the coast drive they offer barastis( palm tree umbrellas) for

The entrance into the port of muscat forts either side for protection
the campers out there which i wish i had known as would have loved to camp out along the beach. The people of oman were so incredibley welcomming and comming from a very harsh and stilted city of dubai it was a very refreshing change.
The landscape is absolutely amazing for a tiny country the drive home through the guts of this country was an adventure in itself narrowly missing camels on the highway through dust storms and getting chased by crazy goat ladies also getting the evil eye from ladies at the gas station where we both could no longer hold onto our bladders so had to use the traditinal muslim toliet...hole in the ground...but the toilets are segregated even to the point that boys toilets are miles away from the ladies....so as noone was around dave used the girls....but as we came out two women saw this and spoke very harshly to me in arabic.....so i may be cursed!!! heheheheh
So its back to Dubai to continue our rockstar ways.....hehhehe if only once in my life i can do it why not......xxxxx
