First Glimpse Through The Siq
Well not exactly walking but floating more to be exact. Today I went and visited the very salty Dead Sea which is the lowest point in the world at 1300 feet beolw sea level. It is such a weird feeling when entering the water you naturally expect to sink but instead your flapping your arms around for no point and just floating there. It took some getting used to but was very nice to just lay back and watch the day pass floating around. And yes it is very salty as I found out when I had a eye itch and decided to give it a rub, stupid me! The water when wading through looks like oil kinda around your legs like a mirky look it is that salty.
I had to do the mud thing and rub it all over to give the skin a refreshen up. Apparently it has 29 minerals in the mud so it was worth a try and actually it does feel a little better afterwards after taking 20 minutes to get clean again!
Yesterday would be my highlight in Jordan though when I went and visited Petra. I didn't realize how long it would take

Smack Bang In The Middle Of Amman
to have a good look through the place, 2 days is needed and I had 7 hours to try and see the whole lot which I did but I could ring my shirt out afterwards. But I got to see the main thing that I went for which was the Treasury and I'll get to that in a sec. You have to go through the Siq which is 1207 m long and between 3-16 m wide. It has massive cliffs along the way which was caused by flash flooding and is just incredible, photos will give some idea. As you get near the end you get your first glimpse of the Treasury through a small gap in the Siq, photos again, and it is unreal when you come out of the Siq there is a huge structure carved into the side of the rock. I took photos of the info so just click on the to get more information about it.
There are heaps of different temples and little houses along the way, it was about a three hour walk to the very end to go and see the Monastery but it was really worth going there. Not the easiest

Just Floating Around
of walks either with all up hill along the way in the baking heat was not good!
Well that's all I had really time to do in Jordan as I leave for Ireland tomorrow morning as it was just a stop over, so I have just been cruising around the city today doing some shopping which I shouldn't be doing at all! My bag is already breaking my back.
Had my first hitchhiking experience today, if I didn't I'd still be at the Dead Sea now and really worrying how I was going to get back to Amman. Not the best of places but the bus broke down and really had no other choice but was ok I guess. The people here are real serious all the time which is expected living in these places and what goes on over the boarders. The security is intense, even though I know I've done nothing wrong coming into the Country was nerve-racking in itself! Still though if I asked where to go, which I always do, the people will gladly point you in the right direction even if going out of there own way.
Would have liked to stay a little longer

Check Out The Dirrerent Colors In The Rock.. It Was All Over The Place
but on the other hand I'm getting exited about seeing some green hills again in Ireland and sitting in a pub having a session talking to people that understand what I'm saying. Also no one saying all the time "hello my friend, which country, come have a look at my shop".
Well that's all for now
Next time from Ireland!!!!

For most of its history since independence from British administration in 1946, Jordan was ruled by King HUSSEIN (1953-99). A pragmatic ruler, he successfully navigated competing pressures from the major powers (US, USSR, and UK), various Arab states...more info
