I'm going to live in Ecuador for four months, and I want some recipes to try before I go?
I'll be living in a real small town in Ecuador (Tambillo) and cooking for myself for four months. Can anyone suggest what sort of food I might find down there and how it will be different from what I'm used to in New Jersey? I have a lot of ethnic/exotic food stores around here, so I'd like to try and cook with the ingredients now while I have lots of utensils and helpful cookers to experiment. Could someone post some recipes (in english, preferably), with some hints on what I'll find, what's cheap/expensive, what's yummy/best avoided?
