After the death of Br Roger, the founder of the Taizé community in August 2005, I travelled to Taizé to see how the community were fareing. The TGV from Toulouse to Lyon to Macon Ville, then a bus to Taizé. Arriving on a very cold day and shared a room with a novice from Rimini, Italy, who was a member of a new religious congregation of men and women based on the tradition of St Bernard. We were both so tired that we nearly missed the morning prayer and heard the bells ring at 8.15 am.
