So I went to Segovia last weekend. I haven't had much time to post about it or anything, but it was a really fun trip! The city is very old and beautiful, and I was able to see my first real castle. It was only 11.00 round trip, which isn't too bad when you consider the price of gas and that Segovia is over an hour away from the city of Madrid. I'm posting pictures up for everyone to see, so if you get the chance click on "gallery" and then click on "segovia" and you'll find some pictures to look at.
Tomorrow night is "La Bella y La Bestia" Beauty and the Beast musical on Gran Via (the main street here in Madrid), and today a guy delivered the tickets to me personally! Ha! I love the service here in Spain. Now I don't have to go early and wait in line to pick up my tickets in the box office.
My classes are all going GREAT! I am really enjoying my class with one of my groups of kids. They are so smart for their age, and yesterday they began talking to me about politics, and fascism. One kid told me that when Franco was in power, he banned some books from the libraries. This kids mother went to protest and got beaten by police, but according to my student her mom "won the fight," haha. But it is pretty powerful to hear a kid talk about things like that. I asked him what he thought about Bush and he said "he's a fascist just like Franco was." This kid is 10 years old!! So much smarter than about 98% of Americans I would say.
