shadow picture We woke up early, followed directions and had our luggage outside our door by 8 am. We then didn’t even attempt to go downstairs but instead headed to the executive lounge for our breakfast. After breakfast, we headed to the “old town” bazaar. Unfortunately, it was not open, so we walked over to the castle. We had come here last year, but really didn’t get to see the castle. Susan and I took our time walking around the outside of the castle and exploring all the nooks. We saw some beautiful views of the river and the city across the river.
We then headed back to the bazaar which was a huge disappointment. We didn’t have time last year to go even though we all wanted to, little did we know that there really wasn’t much to see. So, Susan and I spotted a confectionary and found a REAL crème puff and diet Pepsi where we relaxed and enjoyed the pastry. Our next stop was the pharmacy. Susan introduced me to Voltaren. Most insurance companies in the states will not pay for this because it is so expensive. We bought 2 large tubes of it for about $16 a tube.

statue of liberty Yeah!! All the instructions are of course in Hungarian, so I had to go back to the hotel to research the dosage I should use. That’s when I learned I can’t take Ibuprofen with it. Ok, I’m still going to try it.
We didn’t want to go back to the hotel yet, so we found a shaded bench in the park and sat for a while. It was getting close to noon, so we arrived at the hotel and picked up my backpack and then got on the transfer bus at noon. Because of the traffic it took us an hour to get down the hill and to the ship. Budapest traffic was ridiculous as we could actually see our ship from the hotel room.
You needed to be careful on the walkway to the ship. It seems they used zip ties to hold up some stuff and as I grabbed the banister, I grabbed the top on one that was cut off. Yep, it cut my hand. Oh well, life… Our room was not ready when we arrived at the ship, so we went to the lunch area and had a light lunch. We met a really

When our room was ready, we freshened up and then headed to the shoes monument. During the Nazi occupation, they would line folks up by the river, have them take off their shoes and then shoot them. The bodies then fell in the river and floated away. It was a sad memorial. We continued the walk to the chain bridge and walked across it, then returned to the boat where we unpacked our suitcases and organized the room.
Around 4;30 we headed up the wine and cheese tasting and had a couple of wines and tasted a few cheeses, then we had the captain’s welcome party where the staff was introduced. This was followed by a briefing of the next day’s activities and which was then followed by dinner. A group of 6 friends from around London joined us at the table and we loved talking with them throughout dinner.
After dinner we went to the upper deck and did the evening tour of Budapest from the ship. We then retired

claire at the fountain to our room, which was now 10 degrees, showered and went to bed under blankets. We are having trouble getting the control to do what we want.
