Today I did a good deed to help the freshwater pearl mussels who (maybe ) live in the River Clun in South Shropshire! The banks of the river had been eroded, and the mussels like tree cover. So 6 stalwarts from the Severn Tree Trust set out and planted 100 trees today, all along the banks. I hopoe the mussels appreciate our efforts.
As I don't often go that way, I made a detour or two on the way home to visit Hopton Castle - which is more of a fortified house than a castle really, and Bury Ditches - a neolithic hill fort. It was a lovely day, and I felt I'd done a "useful thing"

How is your back?
100 trees is a lot of digging!!! What a lovely thing to do, I am sure the mussels will appreciate it.
