Loch Lubnag
The First Loch I came across, simply breath taking Sadly I leave Edinburgh today I have truly enjoyed my stay here. Of course it’s raining; So I headed of the Fort William I went through Sterling which was just another well established town, I really didn’t stop to have a look I just got myself some goodies and of I headed, oh I also purchased a lotto ticket over here Danny asked me to so here I go, If I win it will be first class all the way.
It didn’t take too long before the scenery began to change to a carpet of spectacular shades of green, rolling hills and roads that were becoming windy. As I made my way up the windy roads every corner I was presented with more and more breathe taking sights. I could not believe my eyes this country is amazing and wow the sheer exhilaration I felt when I saw my first loch. Loch Lubnag is not huge but it was beautiful the water was so clear and I pulled up on the side of the road, got out of my car and I felt so at peace. The wind was blowing and the rain was falling and I didn’t give a hoot
I know I’m the luckiest person in the world at this point.
The scenery was never ending the summits reached the clouds and beyond, there was one after another and the amazing thing was there is barely a tree is sight for miles. I did find out later that the English had stripped Scotland of its forest, back in the day anyway that’s all I can really say about that. I stopped in an area called black mount, it was just beautiful the summit was dressed in cloud and up ahead between the mountains in the distance the sun was shining, I tell you there is complete feel of mystery here, I got out of the car and I could see a path way that lead up this mountain I took myself of for a walk and the air was snap crisp and the absolute silence was something I have never experience you always hear a bird, water cars etc, no nothing it was surreal, as I walked further I came to ridge and I could no longer see the car at this moment I felt a though I was the only person on the earth I could not see
or hear anything for miles and miles just a pathway that headed to the top, I’m truly having one of those magical days today.
I happened to come across the Falls of Dochart they weren’t what you would call very spectacular but they were defiantly beautiful, as I got out the car I walked along the falls all I could smell was aniseed it was just lovely.
The hostel was in a place called Glencoe, it was way out of town and it was quite. I must say the accommodation was a little average but what can you do. I shared my room with a family from France and they were so lovely. Angelique spoke good English; she had lived in Scotland before and wanted to bring her husband and two children here as she felt it was very special. The next day at breakfast Angelic and her husband Pascal invited me to call in when I am in France they live in Brittany and they offered to show me around, so I think I will do just that.
That day I explored Fort William, its sits on the corner of Loch Linnhe and loch Eil, Loch Linnhe goes right
out to sea and the area is very lush with trees and green rolling hills. They have a ferry service and the town was very pretty, as I pulled up in the car park a family was leaving and they gave me their prepaid parking ticket it still had two hours on it; bingo thank you very much. In the main street there was a group of kid’s buskin they were playing tradition Scottish music with a modern day twist very catchy I must say, I gave them pound and took a photo of them, the town was big on shops like anaconda the area is a great place to trek. There is over 300 summits that over 3000 feet and it a popular destination for those who wish to concur all the summits.
I made my way to Ben Nevis it is the largest summit in Great Britain at 4408 feet. I parked my little beast and threw on my back pack and off I headed. This is one busy summit people coming and going. I climbed up for around an hour and half that was enough is was becoming very slippery on the rocks, the last thing I
wanted was to break a bone. It takes around five hours to reach the top then you have to get back down; bugger that not on my own anyway. The views once again were just beautiful I did enjoy myself and hey I climbed up ¼ of the way of Ben Nevis hehehe.
Meet a few English men that were meeting up with a walking group to tackle Ben Nevis over the weekend weather permitting. They were asking me questions about Australia and one of them had a broad ascent so I couldn’t quite understand what he was saying so I said sorry I can’t quite understand what you just said and he turned around and said well I’m the one speaking real English here what’s your problem, hey what a smart arse, Didn’t make waves single white female on her own behave keep tongue in cheek, you never know who your next room mate might be, and guess what he was, looks like I’m sleeping in my cloths tonight, one eye opened and purse under pillow.
