On the road to Edinburgh
Gday all

For the first time ever for either Jules or myself we got snowed on before we left Auntie Ada's.

Well today we travelled to Edinburgh for a look at the castle and a few other things.

The drive up was spectacular with all the snow on the ground and trees and so forth.

Plans went a bit awry as some people told us it was 4.5 hours drive which turned into about 5.5 or 6.

So when we finally arrived it was a bit late to start sight seeing so we booked into the Holiday Inn on Cow Gate and then walked the Royal Mile looking for a trinket or 2 to take back with us.

Now dont get me started about the Holiday Inn....it was only the second day it had been open and I would of thought they would train their staff before opening but after the 3rd or 4th person came out to look after us we finally got checked in...really getting off to a flying start with me...After our walk we went up to the room for a bit of a rest before dinner...(which by the way we had

Still on the road to Edinburgh
at Garfunkles on the Royal Mile and it was delicious) We turned the Air conditioner on to get a bit of warmth and after a while it hadnt started getting warm so we called the Manager to sort it out...he invited us down for a drink while it warmed up...I must explain here....when they fitted the Reverse cycle Air cond they put the thermostat right next to the a/c unit so it was warm at the door but not where we sat to watch the telly or read.

Being a new place they use all the same fittings as all Holiday Inns which includes a pod type bathroom...a very nice bathroom that had a door that closed the whole bathroom or just turned into the toilet door...very good idea but no signs or warnings about this so when any normal person opens the door you immediately hold the door to stop it banging into the wall but poor Jules jammed her fingers between the door and the toilet door jam...its a bit hard to explain

After dinner we went back to the room and I laid in bed while Jules watched the telly and read her book on the couch..after a while Jules had to put her coat over herself to keep warm...(mind you i was warm in bed) at about 11pm we called the night manager up to check it out as well...nothing could be done of course so we went to bed.

Next morning I was all prepared for a bit of counter thumping but the buggers said to me nothing to say and nothing to pay....spoilt my whole day...LOL

Love to all

Mark and Jules
