Loungeroom...
Yep... our spanking new loungeroom. Nice hey! AGGGGGGGGHH!! If I ever build a house, remind me to try and not kill the plumber!!
Well, trying to keep my promise to myself to update this regularly… very easy over here for things to become a little bit of a blur. Since my last update we have moved into flat, suffered the repercussions of an inconsistent hot water service, and come to the realization that one can become VERY grumpy when they do not get what we all consider to be a simple leisure in life - a hot shower when we want one. It has been a stressful week but as it stands at this point in time, things are turning around and we now have not had any issues for a record 2 whole days!! Yes, Edinburgh is a lovely OLD town with lovely OLD buildings, with lovely OLD water systems that like to shit themselves when they feel like it. One holds hope that the record stands longer.
So enough about that, have had water talk up to my ears. So aside from timing our showers and eating out every night (kitchen should be completed tomorrow), life has improved by the simple fact that
it takes me 20 mins to get to work, although I have started walking to work and back which takes me around 45mins. That and the 5 flights of stairs up to my apartment, I may just have enough energy to walk to gym, LOL. If the shape of my buttocks seriously do not improve here, there is something wrong, LOL!!!!! We’ve had some really nice meals but I cannot wait to have some normal home cooking, eating out is very overrated… and expensive!! Although, I did seriously die and go to heaven when we ate out at this little quaint Spanish/Greek restaurant ‘Qupi’ across the road and had the BEST mushroom dish I have ever tasted in my life!!
So our axe murdering fellow aussies have not moved in yet, thankgod, 5 people in one flat with water issues wouldn’t have gone down well and we may have ended up killing one another. They will however be moving in shortly when flat is completed. I will attach some scary photos of our unfinished downstairs and you will think we have gone mad…. Will be nice when completed. Have had trouble loading on photos so will see how I
go. Our landlord has been really good though and we are living rent free until completed, we are here till the end of July and then on Europe Tour for a month and then he is setting up in a 2 bedroom place down near my work end for August, so hopefully that works out well because apparently trying to find accommodation here in the festival period is impossible! Wish us luck. LOL.
Good to see the pies are traveling nicely whilst I’m away, maybe I should have come away sooner! Suffer to all those bomber fans out there whom had that false sense of security that they were actually in with a chance on ANZAC day %-)
Friday night went out for drinks for work -all paid for ofcourse ;-) Was a good night and they all certainly enjoy a drink, I was well behaved as per usual, he he, but was nice to get to know everyone and I’ve received plenty of invitations for some future shindigs so its good news all round. Then headed over to meet up at a pub with Kate and her work friends and it was sort of all a little
Kate
Kate's room messy after that, however, we did manage to make it back up our stairs and Kate brought the second dodgiest looking kebab I have ever laid eyes on, if I was functioning properly I would have got a pic! Saturday was hungover and we headed up to the Walkabout pub to watch the world cup with a couple of guys from Kate’s work (Jarrod (who by the way friends is like a double of AZ or Chino as I like to call him, very funny), Craig (English and very hospitable), Vaughn (S.African) and Kev (English I think), we were all pretty hungover so suffered together. Whatta shambles the world cup was, I mean Yay Aussies won, but how poorly organized was it, and the fricken rain delay was just painful, but alas we watched the first half there and then went back to Craig’s to watch the rest. Our asses were going a little numb on bar stools. Was nearly falling asleep as it finished. The 12 hour stint at the pub that the other wig clad beer drinking aussies had endured, pretty much made it impossible for them to stand any longer, a little too much beer me thinks.
A few cuties though.
Sunday was spent doing boring things like Laundromat (for the last time like ever, I hate them!!) and cleaning and we found a pub 2 doors down with free wireless internet access, we are their new best customers, he he.
Started to feel a little homesick at the beginning of the week, the hot water issue didn’t help, missed my own shower and own bed, and was first week away from any family, so we will have to go home and visit family here next week again, he he. Makes it harder here because we don’t have a landline either, mum and dad called me yesterday on mobile and it cost them a small fortune, but was great news to here little brother had been in a car accident, was a little worried at first when they sms’d to tell me (yeah, thanks mum and dad) but then they must have realized they’re impact and called and he was fine. They were struggling with phone digits, LOL.
Anyhoo, just about to get some shuteye, had our own little dodgy alfresco picnic in our room tonight because we couldn’t be bothered eating out again,
Gummy Bin
What the? Gummy bin! smoked salmon, brie, salami and red wine, was yummy. Found an awesome café/delicatessen just around the corner.
Well, hope all is well with everyone at home, we’re off to visit the queen this weekend (can’t believe I sucked so many of you in on the J.K. Rowling story (god, I have gullible friends), I did have a good chuckle to myself though. And yes, we really are meeting the Queen, heading over on the train Friday to party for the wkend and do all the normal touristy London stuff.
Have fun, catch you on the flipside xoxoxoxo

Sorry you won't be seeing the queen
Sorry Jodie, picked the wrong weekend to see the queen, she is in Canada, maybe next time.
