Sleep during the day
It annoys me seeing people sleep during the dady in Britain when I'm rushing about worrying about college, money and future, I just point daggers at their oblivious face and think 'how can you?!' >.< In and English life:
One gets up at 6-7AM and leaves home at 9 to start work until 5-6. In between they would have lunch between 12-1:30 to have one cigarette in a designated area outside, bitch about their bosses whilst munching on a sandwich they made or a subway because they got a coupon in the mail. Then they'd go home either alone or to their families and have a meal and maybe one alcoholic drink maybe more on the weekend. Watch TV for an average of four hours per night and then bed by 10 and read a quick chapter of their book before lights out after a quick check of their notifications on their phone.
This isn't my life by the way as I am a student and neither drink or smoke but that is generally what people do in Britain.
Now, I can't speak for all Japanese people but what I gather from my boyfriend's life;
Eye's open at 6:30 and dressed by 7 and a quick breakfast, quick message to the girlfriend then off to catch the train. Twenty minutes and one transfer later to start school at 8:15. I THINK, now
Being creative in a long distance relationship
I don't often take selfies, or particularly with friends but when I do they look like this.
The other day I was sad so my boyfriend passed me on to his mother who then pinched her cheek and quite sternly announced TAKOYAKI, five minutes later I realised I was meant to follow suite and I repeated until I pronounced it right.
To this day I do not know the meaning of the cheek part but I think it's how they ask my squid. here's the interesting part, finish at 6 after a full day of studying. Then sometimes off to something called Juku or 'cram school' which there's is none in Britain so I'm not sure if it's in the same building as 'school' or how it works. So that's an extra two hours of studying. Back home at 9, munch on tea then 15 minutes of his favourite daily show and off for a nap for TWO hours, then up again at 11 to either talk to me or study until silly o'clock in the morning before lights out at either 12:30 or 1.-Tonight it was 1.
I can confirm that the Japanese are night owls because a couple of other people who ask questions about English and Britain are up at 1. I spoke to a 25 year old accountant tonight who was still perky until gone one in the morning. Even when I stay up too late I begin to deteriorate a little no matter the situation.
But even my boyfriend's parents are still walking about the house too as if it were nothing at god knows what time in the morning, dad detests me when I stay up too late after 11 to read my book. I've actually witnessed him fall asleep in front of me after eventually getting tired enough to do so and then 20 or something minutes later his mother burst into the room and started talking to him as if it expecting him to be up for a conversation at 2:30AM. She is a nice lady, but sometimes I'm just like 'LET THE BOY REST!!'
I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to this life style or not- I used to laugh when he told me he napped in the afternoon, sometimes on a weekend he can do it for 8 hours a day then- in his words-
consequently not capable of sleeping during the night.
Although when I was bipolic I couldn't sleep until three in some cases and then the next day I'd have to be up at 7 for college at 8 and cycle but the condition meant I didn't really have to sleep too much- at the time it was good but the feeling afterwards was horrific.
One time when I was alone in the house and doing a painting, he suddenly called me. It was 9:30, so 5:30 in the morning there- this was before we were together and my heart fluttered, I thought this was ridiculous, so I answered only to find him in bed. Laughing, I asked him why are you in bed before I realised what time it was which lead to my next question; why did you call me?
I wanted to see you he replied and almost instantly that warm feeling came back to me, then before I knew it his alarm clock went off and he was kicking his duvet back and getting ready for school.
I could never imagine napping during the day, even at my most tired state I close for five minutes and they just scroll back up again.
But it's part of the Japanese culture to nap; interestingly it's a sign of hard work if they fall asleep. If enough people fond that out here they everyone would be doing it. Oh well, I guess after a while in my inconsistent life I will too be bored of pretending to be alive 9-5 until it's home. I'll enjoy the rush and change- I've been at college for a year now and I'm already bored of the hours, the atmosphere and just looking at it really.
