14 June 2014 An informative guide book from the tourist office enabled us to have an enjoyable and informative day wandering around Southwold. There are many interesting buildings there although most of them date from the 18
th and 19
th century because the town had a disastrous fire in 1659. This also resulted in the formation of several open and attractive grassed spaces known as the Greens.
We were walking along the sea front when surprisingly we met Dave and Janet King some very old friends of ours from home. They had rented a house in the town for a family holiday and we were invited to a delightful supper with them in the evening.
