Our Rental Car
Kim was the navigator of Team Shull. I need to back up to the start of the trip … Kim and I had the grand plan. She was in Nebraska visiting Rich’s family, so Plan A: She would fly to Chicago from Omaha. I would fly to Chicago from Tucson. We would meet up and fly to London together. Awesome plan. Didn’t work. She couldn’t get a flight out of Omaha to Chicago. All planes full. So Plan B: She would fly to Dallas and go to London from there on a flight that would bring us both into London about the same time. Didn’t work. She got on her plane, I did not. So she flew to London, went to the flat; Rich came in from a business trip around the same time. They had a bit of sleep before it was time to pick up Mother at the airport.
Alrighty, we are now getting ready to drive to Salisbury. Rich rented a car, and by the time we got our respective acts together it was around 3:00 p.m. We’re off! Me, Rich, Kim and the GPS. We have an added bonus to the drive … the Pope is scheduled to be in a parade around
Team Shull
The great navigation and driving team of Rich and Kim. where Kim and Rich live, so we (that would be the royal “we”) had to negotiate around the barricades, traffic and detours. Rich and Kim made a great team, pilot and co-pilot, and we negotiated our way to the freeway in good shape. There is something wonderful about being a back-seat passenger … no pressure.
We stopped on the way to get coffee for Rich, our driver. Europe has the best rest stops ever. This one was like a mini mall with Starbucks, Burger King, some English stores … clean, neat and tidy. They may not add salt to their canned goods, but they sure have great rest stops!!
We made it to our hotel, Grasmere Hotel, a nice old English hotel in Salisbury, around 7:30 p.m., checked in, got a bite to eat and turned in relatively early. We had to be up and out of the hotel by 5:30 a.m. in order to get to Stonehenge on time. Kim and I didn’t sleep well … I kept waking up and checking the time. I was not going to miss Stonehenge. At some point she and I were awake at the same time, whispering and giggling in
Out the Window
London in the rain. Gee, how unusual! the dark. Didn’t phase Rich.
P.S. I added three more photos, but they don't seem to show up unless you hit photos.
