England... indeed, but before that there was 20 hours in spent in stupid security lines dealing with stupid security officers in stupid american cities which left me drained and fiending for something more than coffee nd doughnuts... i had been up all night and i needed strong drink... luckily the duty free in Detroit had 1.7 litre bottles of Jack Daniels for $24 and by the time i had cruised through downtown detroit trying to find 8 mile for close to 3 hours i was ready to sit back drink whiskey and cokes and let the knobhead of a pilot fly me across the atlantic. I say knobhead because he really was a tool, besides fucking up the basic piloting skill of landing (he bounced 3 times, idiot) he welcomed us in the name of the queen mother "Welcome to England, where the Queen Mother welcomes you..." the last i had heard and unless something has changed over the last few years she was dead and quite unable to welcome anyone... what did welcome me was the a sweet 6 pound 7 ounce baby jesus of a queue which took over an hour of slowly shuffeling back and forth just to get to the passport control desk... hatefullness. and maybe because it was september 11th everyone seemed to be on edge and no one working security was overjoyed that i was coming to whatever country they were working for... and so by that time i was feeling an uglymeaness forming. but i made it out and after a pleasant train and taxi ride got to Paddington, a section of London where Paddington Bear came from which given the name makes sense, and checked into the Mitre House a nice plush building where the rest of the group is going to meet up in a few days. i wandered around the fish and chip shops and found a few markets wher ei could buy some of the things which the security in LA felt might be a threat, such as my nail clippers and toothpaste... after half an hour of wandering i found myself in an islamic section of the city where indeed everything, and almost everyone was middle eastern. Then Hyde park which is a nice relaxed spot for a beer, although im not sure if it is strictly legal to drink in parks... but being the maverick renagade that i am i did it anyways! The pace here is much differnt than most Canadian cities. everyone drives much much faster and cross walks are not nearly as safe... a few close calls but nothing like the chaos of South East Asia. Then I came back to my hotel an wrote this because it is only 6:30 and i dont have enough energy to leave my room but i cant go to sleep yet if i want to be in the free and clear from jet lag. Met a bunch of cool brit's and an aussie and found tickets to see the Hilltop Hood's down the street whihc will be awesome. and thats enough of this until something interesting happens... Selah
