Kind of small isn't it??
On the weekend I went on a day tour to Stonehenge and Bath with Rachel (cousin). The day started off brilliantly with the tube not running into central london where the pick up point was (due to engineering works). We took another tube line to try and get around the problem. Our tour was leaving at 8:30am and at 8:20am the tube stopped...we waited....and waited...then the driver announced that there was a train stuck at a station further up and all trains on the line westbound werent allowed to move!! hmmmmm looks like we are going to miss the bus..

so i called the tour companies number and told them the problem. Luckily the bus was making another stop at 9am for the last pick up and that was only a couple of stops away on the tube (if we got moving in time) We did thankfully and the bus ride was pleasant enough (including a few naps along the way 😊

Stonehenge isnt a massive as i thought it would be, but still mightly impressive. We had an audio tour (similar to France) which basically is a massive cellphone that when you punch in certain numbers it tells

What i wouldnt give for a quick dip
you about what you are looking at.

The weather was bloody cold and my hands were numb from holding the talking cellphone. The air temp wasnt bad (around 10 or so) but the wind just went straight through you. It took about 45mins to go around the stones (listening to the audio tour) learnt a little about them and the various theories as to what they are doing there (including one saying Merlin the wizard flew them there from ireland, and one about the Devil doing a similar thing)

We hopped back on the warm bus for the short trip to Bath. Bath is a beautiful city, really nice and a relaxed atmosphere. We went on a short tour of the old roman baths which were pretty cool (especially as there are no other natural hot springs in England) and found out a little bit about their history and what the dumb romans thought about them (aparently by sitting in the hot water you would be healed of pretty much any disease including leprosy...also if you wrote a curse on a piece of paper and folded it up then rolled it and threw it into the water the

curse would become reality)

I think the architect of Bath was a guy called John Wood (and his son) who thought that by making the facade of every builing the same (like terraced housing) it would created something beautiful and appealing to the eye. It worked to some degree, but especially well in the circus and cresent...two places were the housing curves around in a circle (the circus) and a long curve overlooking the city (cresent). THe avon river (translated means river river..go the english!!) also runs through the town.

The trip home was slow with the motorway being blocked up but all in all a great journey. I will be returning to Bath as it really is a beautiful town and i wouldnt mind exploring more of it (i have heard there is a massive chocloate shop where everything is oversized 😊 😊
