My first impression was of a city in shambles! Dirty, messy and tacky! Nevertheless, Liverpool is facing a major refurbishment and the whole city is being renovated. Loads of road work underway, making it almost impossible to drive in the center of the city. Pretty much everything is being refurbished and I guess that in a couple of months the city will look totally different. All that said, there are various nice building and sites.

We dedicated most of our 2 days to visit the attractions related to the Beatles. We went to the Cavern pub and club, which is the place where they played for over 5 years and is also the place where they were playing when discovered by their producer. It is such a tiny place.

We stayed in a guest house called Beech Mount (far from the center) which was ok (£90). Taxi fares where much cheaper than in London.
I would say that 2 full days is more than enough to visit the main attractions.
