Sleeping in
Even the kids slept late! Lori went for a run along Colston Lane passing many farms and a Stilton cheese factory (Uncle Paul might like that). Then we went to town (Grantham) and shopped for groceries at ASDA (not unlike Loblaw's) which was busy. After lunch, we went to Belton House. We had a bit of a "european vacation" driving experience doing some traffic circles a few times. The driving is actually not bad, it's the signage that keeps things interesting (putting it nicely). We also were able to check out the city centre of Grantham several times (maybe we just liked it or maybe we could not quite get in the right lane at the right time) but we managed to make it back to our home in one piece! Phew! Belton House was gorgeous. It was the location of many films such as Pride and Prejudice and others. Once we had toured the home, the kids had a blast at the outdoor kids park which was huge and tons of fun. We enjoyed some curly wurlies and chocolate buttons for dessert (pudding). We've just collected the results of the days egg production which was 6 but we "lost" one when Russell couldn't quite reach
Chickens 1; Robertsons 0
Kids had a blast feeding the chickens and getting them into the roost. it in the back of the roost and ended up giving it a firm squeeze....oh well. The other interesting thing about this farm house is that the doorways are very low. The Foxalls were probably a little concerned when we met them in the airport and they saw Nigel's height....so, the new excitement for this trip is to count how many times Nigel cracks his head while making his way around the house. Today's count:6. I think he may beat this record though....We sure got lucky with the weather today - sunny all day. Then we got in the car at 5:30pm to drive home and at 5:35 it started to rain! Soon, we'll head out to battle - the chickens I mean. I have a score to settle. I gave them a little extra corn this evening in hopes that they might be more cooperative settling in to roost tonight. The rain might also help them along...the gentle prodding with the rubber boot doesn't seem to work....
