The village of Rye
To think once upon a time, not so long ago, the sea came all the way in to this town. And now there is perfectly flat arable land in its wake, with the hardy moors sheep dotted about grazing upon it.
Here we walked the cobbled streets and was amused by how low some of the doors to these ancient houses were. Pubs as per usual in this fair land feature strongly here, beautifully ornate and well patronised. I also saw ‘the house next door’ and other such ever so practically named homes, like “The house with two front doors” …bright sparks they were.
One shop sported the sign, "Glass Antique and other high class Junk" ... now that is honest advertising lol.

I admired the old water pump in the wall and, would have loved to have been able to crank that handle but alas that was a no go.
In this wee village a lolly shop we did spy, where I got to try lemon drops and buy myself a stash of licorice bullets ( I so love those lollies and have not seen them for such a long time). For lunch had a punnet of chips, where I discovered vinegar and salt on chips wasn’t really so bad a deal. Those polished off, we hopped back into the car and drove to the beach.
Sand blasting anyone? Bracing is an understatement. The sand was a shade of brown and the wind was viciously whipping it up, there was sand beach far and wide for about as far as you could see, perfect for a great blat along on horseback or bike but what I’ll remember it most for is the fact you had to pay. Yes PAY, to go to the beach – supposedly for the parking space

Went to another pub, for a mid afternoon beer, at the Woolpack Inn built in the 15th century and come to think of it, that style here hasnt really changed all that much since... still, I'm hunting for that elusive or is that really an illusive glass of mead that a certain Odinsclan man set me on (well that's my excuse anyway) - Ta Odin 😉 If my trip turns out to be a glorified pub crawl, I'll blame you.
