Adam was pleased to see the Spinnaker Tower after 5 1/2 hours on a ferry!
Well, We are back home now and Geoff is hobbling about..... purely a drink related incident back in France....

As you will see from my previous entry, we were staying in nice chalets with verandas overlooking the lake. It was our last night on the campsite and Geoff had drank a few (as you can imagine). He decided to race Adam back to the chalet at the end of the evening....

Adam decided to try and cheat and, instead of going up a few steps to our chalet, he cut through some shrubbery.....followed and overtaken by Geoff (got the picture so far?)

It's dark and we chose to leave the outside lights on to make it easier to find our chalet so Geoff gets to the veranda, vaults over the rail, lands on a plastic sunbed, twisting his ankle and landing on his thumb and wrist.........(this is not all...) He is still laying there when he looks up to discover a woman inside the chalet with the look of pure fear in her eyes! (You've guessed it, it wasn't our chalet, it was our Dutch neighbours!!!)

So, after apologising to the poor shaken woman, he hobbles next

Geoff's self inflicted injury...
door to our chalet where I am wondering what on earth happened. The evening ends with Geoff laying on the bed with his swollen foot raised up and me holding a bag of frozen chips on it. All this the day before he has to drive from Langres to Le Harve (a 4 1/2 trip!)

Luckily for all concerned, we did see the funny side even though he is still suffering for it.

So it's back to reality and looking back..although the trip didn't go as planned, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. All we need to do now is find out when the van is leaving France for it's journey to VW City in Portsmouth to get fixed.......

.....and then, well maybe another try next year....?????

Thanks for reading!!!

UPDATE
Well, it is now 6th September and our Van still hasn't made it back to the house. It was shipped back 2 days after we returned home and went straight to VW City so they could take a look. We popped up there last week to see what was happening and they said that the Alternator needs replacing, the soloniods (however that's spelt) may need replacing and there is a problem with one of the exhaust pipes. We took a few bits out of the van that we needed and left it there whilst they hopefully did the work. Geoff had to fly to Hungary on the Monday and gets back later today. Hopefully we will be able to get in touch with the guy at VW City on Monday and pick up the van then. Fingers crossed.
