On Sunday I was up and ready by 9:00am. I was a mess to be honest. We had to bring our stuff to Finn and Kevin's room because technically our check-out time was 11:00am and we weren't leaving until 4:00pm. I'm pretty sure Finn though I was a dead walking person, but that's okay.
After breakfast Erin, Emily and I went to King's Cross. Harry Potter everyone!! We waited in such a long line, but it was completely worth getting my picture and seeing where the story was based. After we went in to the store and I felt like I was in an overwhelming heaven. It brought me back to my childhood.
After Erin and I went to Big Ben again and got a closer look. It actually is stunning up close; completely captivating. It's so imposing, but so beautiful. We then of course took the obligatory tourist photos in a London phone booth. We went to Camden Market which is this completely open market area with people setting up tables to sell their goods. It was so cool and if I had had the time I could've spent hours in there.
By then it was getting
Big Ben
An up-close picture of Big Ben close to leaving time so we went back to the square and got some coffee in Starbucks. We hung out there and then headed to the reception area. Almost everyone was back and we all sat and talked until about four when we went upstairs to get our bags from the room. Then, with us all downstairs, we headed to the tube to go to the airport.
Now this is where the trip differs from the rest. We get on the tube, only to find out we had gotten on the wrong split of the tube. The line splits and we were supposed to be on the other split. I was so hot in there I honestly thought I was going to throw up. My cheeks were burning and I was so exhausted I felt totally and completely disoriented. I was happy we got off so I could at least breathe. So, at the next stop we got off and waited for the right one. While we were waiting on the platform, a older woman collapsed hitting her head and causing a head laceration. Now I won't go in to too much detail, but it was a terrible sight
Phonebooth
Yes, I took this extremely touristy picture. to see. Finn immediately jumped into action. I grabbed her suitcase so she could do her thing, and she helped the woman recover her senses and patch up the wound. She spoke to the woman and was there for her when she woke up and kept her calm when she realized what happened. Finn was truly that woman's guardian angel. Our train arrived and the woman was still on the ground, but the ambulance was on its way. Kevin told us Finn would meet us at the airport and we had to do everything we could to get on that train. It was crowded. No, I don't mean crowded like no seats, I mean crowded to the point of being dangerous. We had to pull Morgan on the train and push in so much to make sure she didn't get left behind. At one point Jess was so squished she was airborne on the train. I had never been in a situation like that before. We were all shocked. It was crazy to witness something like that and I felt so helpless that I couldn't do anything for the woman. I also wanted to know where Finn was because yes,
Platform 9 3/4
My love for Harry Potter is real she was the strong one in that situation, but it doesn't mean she wasn't mentally affected by it too. The train was so crowded we didn't realize that Finn was actually on the other side of the car. I could see her just through people and I sighed a sigh of relief that she was with us.
We finally all made it to Heathrow and got together again. Finn told us that she wasn't a hero when we praised her and she told us as humans we have to help each other out and be there for each other. I can only hope I'm half as caring and wise as Finn when I'm older.
At the airport we all split off to get dinner, however I couldn't eat a thing. I had some tea, but other than that my stomach just couldn't handle it. I did get a keychain with Queen Elizabeth's face on it. One of my best purchases if I do say so myself. Around 8:45pm we went downstairs to board the plane. Everyone else was already boarding and we just made it on for some strange reason. I went through security and of course I got randomly checked and my bag had to be checked so I slowed up the entire process. The flight back was long and jumpy for me and I was tired but not. I was so overtired that I was convinced we had already taken off from the ground before we had. It was a very long day.
When we got to Shannon airport and went through security. I was so afraid that I wouldn't get let back in to Ireland because I didn't have a passport, but I just made it in. We walked out to see Kevin and our driver waiting for us and we joked that Kevin didn't have his API sign like he did when he met us there the first time.
We boarded the bus and started our drive back to Galway.
I'm going to get emotional now. Fionnghuala Geraghty is honestly a beautiful person. I don't know how I would have gotten to where I am right now without her. The entire bus ride home we talked about life and I told her really personal things about my own life. It was hard for me, but I needed to say them and she was there for me the entire time. I know it sounds silly at 20 years old, but I needed someone to listen to me. She made me feel so much better I can't even put it into words. She is so wise beyond her years that I learned more about life in that one hour or so than I have in my twenty years of living. She is a blessing in disguise for me.
