How do I even begin to talk about London? Everyone, put on your reading glasses and get ready because this is going to one hell of a long post. Our journey started out on Friday at around 1:30pm. Of course none of us could remember the exact time we were supposed to meet, so some of us got there at 1:30pm and hung out in the grass. At least it was nice out. At 2:00pm our bus came and we loaded our stuff in. Matt was running late because he had to make sandwiches (what a noob, am I right?) We asked our bus driver if we were the only people coming, like if any adults were going to be travelling with us. He told us no, that we were it. We thought it was kind of weird since Finn and Kevin weren't there but we figured they'd meet us at the airport or something. Just as everyone was settling in Finn and Kevin came onboard. Good thing Matt was running late or we would've left without them!
The ride to Shannon Airport was pretty uneventful, in that Kevin and Finn just talked to us about London and such. I
decided to sit up front since we had more room and I could have two seats to myself. Little did I know how much I was going to love that seat.
When we arrived at Shannon it was like flashbacks to our first day in Ireland. Let me tell you they weren't exactly good flashbacks. Looking back on that first day I realized how awful it actually was. We were all thrown together, exhausted and scared, in a new place without knowing anyone and just expected to be fine. I mean, it is the only way to get people acclimated, but it still was terrible. Anyway, we got to the airport and through security with no problem at all. On the flight I was next to a random man and Bre, Kevin, and Finn were in front of me. I had finally gotten a window seat! Not that I looked out it much, but it was still very nice. We got in to Heathrow Airport at like 7:00pm I think and then we had to take The Tube to our hotel which was near Leicester Square. We got these cards that were pre-loaded with 15 pounds for us to
Chinatown
London's Chinatown use for the weekend. Incidentally I still have my card even though I was supposed to give it back. I'll explain that later though. So, we got on the tube and travelled to our hotel. API had never used it before so nobody really knew much about it. It seemed nice enough. Of course I had my own room because I never get paired with anybody. Matt had a roommate though with a student studying in Limerick. We all agreed to meet in the lobby in fifteen minutes' time to get food. I dropped my stuff off and let me tell you, this was THE most confusing hotel I had ever been in. Ever. I was only on the second floor, but I ended up making my way all the down to the basement and by the kitchen, and then I ended up going out a fire exit outside on the street on the other side of the entrance to the hotel. I mean seriously, how could I manage that? We all decided to go to a restaurant down the street and we had a nice API Family dinner. Finn got this sugary drink and you could have sworn she had alcohol in it she was so hyped up. It was hilarious. After dinner we all took a walk down to the square and just took in the nightlife. It was crazy how much was going on. It honestly looked like a European New York. That's the only way I could describe it. We split off after that and some people went back to the hotel. Bre and Erin and I ended up at Burger King and they got ice cream. It was starting to get sketchy in there so we walked back to the hotel. You know an issue I had with this hotel besides being impossibly difficult to navigate? The wifi was not free. What kind of hotel doesn't have free wifi? A bad one that's what. So I basically was disconnected from the world, which wasn't a bad thing until I couldn't get in contact with anyone in API and I was living by myself. I fell asleep at around 1:00am and I woke up by 8:15am to get ready.
