Went wandering off Oxford Street to see the William Wallace collection. Quite impressive collection of over 2000 paintings. Included was 3 rooms of old armoury that he had collected over the years. All this and his mansion were donated to the public. Strange that it isn't publicised much.
Did the Tower of London in the afternoon. Took the 1 hour tour with the Beefeater. what i have noticed since being over in London is all the foreigners. Its like being at a League of Nations Convention!!
Came back to the Tower at 9.30pm to see the Ceremony of the keys. Had to organise tickets 2 months before we left on holiday as numbers are kept to around 40 people per night. The same ceremony has been performed every night continuously for 700 years. In short it is the locking up of the Tower to ensure that the Crown Jewels are kept safe.,,,,,, takes 7 minutes with soldiers marching, stamping, yelling "who comes there" and ends with the last post.... brought a tear to my eye!
