Chillin with the mascots Why the ultimate footballing weekend? For one it was truly English: Rugby and Football. And secondly (and perhaps more importantly) it was all corporately sponsored!
The weekend started with a trip for Adam to Twickenham to watch England v Wales in the opener of the 2008 6 Nations. The corporate ticket was everything you’d expect, a three course meal and open bar before the game, seats on the halfway line and an audience with the English captain post match. The match itself was a little lacklustre and England failed to convert first half possession into points. They paid for it after a spirited Welsh fightback in the second half earned them victory and set them up on their way to a Grand Slam. The highlight was of course the atmosphere in the stadium, non-stop singing and true passion whenever Sweet Chariot started up - fantastic!
Sunday saw Adam and Sarah head to Craven Cottage for a tour of the corporate hospitality facilities before settling into a corporate box to watch Fulham v Aston Villa. Another swanky showing, private bar and a delicious spread of roast lamb and vegies - right proper English fare! Oddly enough our box was situated

National Anthem time! behind the away fans, so we listened to chants of ‘villa, villa, villa, VILLA’ and “your support, your support, your support is f*ckin sh*t’ all afternoon. Certainly a passionate bunch. But on this day Fulham would prevail thanks to a superb free kick at the death from a fit again Jimmy Bullard. 2-1 Fulham. Brilliant.
