HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!
Wow, the last couple days have been a whirlwind. The photos are finally here for you to have a look!
So Friday I met Kari and Amber at the hotel and we did our round table presentation, easy... I left right after as they continued with the conference, so I could have one last wafle and order of frites. The frites were not impressive but the wafle could not be better. I walked around a few minutes but the rain was starting again so I decided to get to the train and just be on my way to Charleroi where I would catch my plane. The train ride was abour an hour and when I arrived I found an internet cafe so I wasted time there (having a few hours to spare) before catching a bus to the airport. I took Ryan Air- a budget airline, and I was very early so was the first to check in for my flight. Spare you the details, but that has nothing to do with order of boarding the plane here. lol
I got to London and found the train I needed to get to Shepherds
Bush to find Monte. The stinkin transport cost me $45. Amazing how costly it is here. I had to ride the tube from the trainstop and it dropped me a couple blocks from the hotel. I got here to the K West just at midnight, I called the room but Monte was at dress rehearsal so his friends let me in. I met his friends CE and Carrie and soon after Monte got back. I fell asleep early to prepare for Live Earth.
Saturday AM we got up and I took my time, we all did our own thing, Monte had lots to prepare for, for the show. I walked a bit around the area and went to get Indian food, it was amazing! I came back and shortly after Monte's friends came back too. Monte told us our plan of how to get into Live Earth. I will not display the details, but I will say it took a lot of work. CE, Carrie and I left got to Wembley stadium and it took a couple of hours to actually get in but once we did we were right in front of the stage and it was fantastic.
The energy from the crowd and the artists was invigorating.
We saw- David Grey, James Blunt, Pussycat Dolls, Beastie Boys, Metallica, Spinal Tap, Foo Fighters and Madonna.
Spinal Tap had asked all bass players to come on stage with them and play Big Bottom, Monte, Steve and Marcus all from Madonna were out on stage along side other amazing artists. I got pictures of Monte up next to James (Metallica) on stage with Spinal Tap, what a historical moment. The night was great. Here is the hilarious personal highlight of the night...
After Foo Fighters I turned to talk about how great they performed, next thing I know something hit my head very hard. I thought it was a beer bottle, then I saw Carrie holding her eye and CE and some other guy fighting over what appeared to be a drumstick. So ya, the drummer threw his drumstick in the crowd, it hit my head dead on, bounced and hit Carries head then splashed into her wine glass splashing wine on her face and her fresh Live Earth sweatshirt, then landed on the ground. This jerk took the stick and said it is his because it was on
the ground, all the while Carrie and I took a complete beating. Everyone around was angry at the guy and a couple people kissed my head. lol I got a picture of the stick, the guy posed with it, but I cut his head out of it. The Madonna performance was great and full of energy and it was fun to watch the boys perform with her.
After the show we found Monte backstage and helped him with a couple things, took some pictures and then rode in the van back to the hotel while a few sang me Happy Birthday. We all stayed in the bar for a few hours, CE bought me a Mojito, yes I had a drink. It was the best Mojito I have ever tasted. It was a great night filled with fun and laughs. Thank you Monte and friends for making it a memorable and lovely bday 😊
Lots of Love and lumps on the head...
Erin
