The Gang
The gang of us big kids that went to Thorpe Park Hey all
Thought it was time I sent an update out to you all and let you know what has been happening in dreary old London. It has been a very busy couple of weeks though!!
Well it was a busy week last week as the event I had been organising at Land Securities happened. It was 2 inductions for two new companies that had merged with Land Securities, so I had about 60 people at each of the two day events. It was lots of fun, but brought back memories of how catering and accommodation arrangements can ruin an event! Monday afternoon, - no coffee!!, they had forgotten it, Tuesday morning, no waitress to set up food for breakfast - so of course you know I had to put my waitress hat on and play the hostess... On Monday night we had to stay over at a hotel, but when we checked in they had only booked in 2 rooms, instead of the 3 that was on my confirmation list, the travel agent had also booked the wrong hotel, and we had to sleep on blimmin' sofa beds!!!! NEver stay at the Citadines Apartment chain!!! NEVER!!!!! Luckily
The Stealth
The best ride ever!!! It's over before you know it! we managed to stay at the Thistle Charing Cross on the Wednesday night and that was pure luxury!!!!
Tuesday night I went and saw We Will Rock You the stage show, and even though it has rave reviews, I wasn't entirely impressed. It was great to sing along to all the songs, but I personally didn't think it was anything spectacular.... but would definitely recommend people to go..... I thought it was a medley of all their songs, but it's actually set in the future where they have banned music and musical instruments, and there are Bohemiams who are trying to bring back the music. Bit cheesy and naff in some places, but still worth a laugh, and the music is great - the amps are turned up really loud!!
The weekend before a group of 15 of us went to Thorpe Park which is a big theme park for Claire's birthday. That was wicked. Some scary rides - The Slammer, Stealth, Colusses etc The Slammer takes about 40 people and you get flipped over in a 360 degree motion backwards and then forwards, the Stealth you fired off at 80mph (reached in 3 seconds) and go up
a huge arch and then once reaching the top, you head straight back down to earth - the ride is so fast it only lasts about 10 seconds from start to finish. The Colusses has the record of the most 360 loops in one ride - it has 10! And the worst part is, that it goes through a corkscrew of about 6 of them all at once, and they actually slow the roller coaster down as you go through it, plus there is one last one at the very end that is only 2 metres from the ground - that freaks you out!! It was definitely a big kids day out, full of fun and laughter - and a bit of sun burn too!! Here's a link if you want to check out the rides further:

We also just had another bank holiday weekend, and since I'm saving hard for Florida and my Contiki, Claire and I decided to stay in London instead of going down the South Coast. The weather was pretty miserable but I did manage to venture out - can't stay cooped up in the house all day that's for sure - drives me
crazy!! On Saturday I finally made it to Hyde Park, and I got to see my first squirrel!! They are sooooooo cute! Bounding around through the grass, and they are so tame, they come right up to you! I did take my camera along, but unfortunately the stupid blonde forgot to check if the battery was charged - DOH!!! Hyde Park is really lovely though, it was a big lake called the Serpentine, which is full of bird life and loads of ducklings!! They even have those stripey beach chairs set out so people can sit and people watch, and there are lots of dogs going crazy too! I must admit it was nice to be back out amongst the green grass and trees, and I'm so sappy that I even went through the rose garden!
On Sunday, Nicola (my flatmate and old neighbour from Upper Hutt), went to the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), to see the Kylie exhibition. Boy, she is absolutely tiny! They had loads of photographs of her through her career, videos of her shows etc, and a lot of her costumes were on display from various shows and music videos. It was insane to
Poser time
Flatties Jaffa and Marc, Mark (Claire's bf), our mate Katie and me! see all the wear and tear and even the makeup stains on them....made is seem more real.....
On Monday I met up with my friend Natalie, who I worked with at Next Recruitment, and we went out to Harrods. Wowzers! That place is big for a luxury department store - and so are the prices!! They even have a petshop, and they had two bulldog puppies for sale (so cute!) at 3,000pounds each! You should also check out the collection of puppy clothing that they have! Fancy dress costumes, diamond studded collars, fur trimmed hoodies and jackets, Louis Vuitton carry bags for your pooch..... It was also great to check out the designer sections of shoes, handbags and amazing dresses, the jewellery department with their massive diamond collections (I was almost blinded by some of those rocks!), and also their deli department. Some very interesting foods on display - they even had a Krispy Kreme outlet!
I was stressing about not having a job this week, but I managed to get a role at a Media Agency as a Receptionist (yay easy work!) until I leave for Florida on the 9th of June. I'm starting to get excited
Tidal Wave
Mark and Katie got drenched on that ride!! now! Hopefully the weather is glorious - it's been up in the late 20's for the last week, so fingers crossed!!! Then it's back on the 16th June, and back to work at Land Securities to work in their Learning & Development team - because they love me so much! - and it's long term too, so some job security!
So kids, probably the next time you hear from me, I would have been to the USA and have a lovely golden tan, and have some awesome pics to show you all!!
p.s My eyelashes are finally growing back - but not as fast as I would like them too!!
