Had a shocking sleep and up early 6am … Down to breakfast in the Hotel, a comprehensive spread and ate far too much (but it did see me right through to dinner !!!). Got our day packs and TUBE Map and set off … found the Underground and tried to get the hang of it … everybody so helpful here and just come up to see if you need help … you don’t have to ask !!! We got through to the station near Buckingham Palace and lined up along the gates to watch the changing of the guard lots of marching shouting and a brass band demo of James Bond tunes… the incoming troops complete with horses and music too … will have to do some research on what we were witnessing exactly ….wandered around and explored the Queen Victoria Memorial and viewed The Mall, have witnessed a lot of events of this on TV. Spent about an hour and a half here and nearing mid day wandered past St James Park to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliment walked onto Westminster Bridge and watched the boats going backwards and forwards On the Thames. Wandered around to Westminster Abbey and got a drink Fanta and 2 Snickers bars 7.75 pound and sat in the cool as it is actually quite warm …. All the tourist things here accommodation and eating or drinking out is VERY Expensive eg Westminster Abbey was 29 pound each so roughly 60 pound each to go inside but groceries …eg a loaf of bread 1.20 pound and barrista coffee 2.90 pound about the same price as our stuff. 1pm we headed to the Underground and travelled up to Leichester Square had a great wander in the Theater Mecca of London (West End). Lots going on can’t get over the people around … busier than Singapore !!! Found China Town and it was really popular too. Walked up to Trafalgar Square 3.30 pm and got to the Underground … travelled back to Shepherds bush just along the road from our hotel and into Westfield to find a SIM for mobile data but ended up in the supermarket Waitrose got a few supplies wine cheese crackers milk etc and a snoop around checking out prices …. Got back to the hotel 5.30 had a beverage then down for dinner at the bar in the hotel 7pm and cras
